“Well it’s not like you have any prospects, Evan,” Margaret sniffed, hands folded neatly on top of the table next to her nearly full glass of wine.
That was Buck’s final straw. Comments from the whole evening, from his entire life, flashed in his mind. Every single time his parents made him feel like a disappointment; inadequate; unloved; too much; a burden. And Buck took it, first because he believed he deserved it, then, after the 118, because it was easier to just ignore it. But now? Buck has four big problems in his life right now. Most people might scoff or say, “You don’t even know how hard life gets,” when a teenager complains about their life, but he feels justified in this. Junior year was kicking his ass, and he wasn’t looking forward to his senior year at all, especially if it’s anything like this. Every day of his life feels like a losing battle with everything going on around him and he was just so tired.
The first would be high school, the workload making him stay up night after night and exhaust himself to get good enough grades to appease his parents. The second would be the previously mentioned parents who were on his ass about everything he did, constantly comparing him to how they think his brother would have turned out. The third issue was the fact that he was a trans man, another thing his parents disapproved of. The last and most pressing problem he was facing was the positive pregnancy test on his bathroom counter.

"We did a CT scan as you know. And we found something that we originally thought was a blood clot in your brain." Buck nodded waiting for her to continue. He had a feeling he knew where this was going.
"I'm sorry Buck. We found cancerous tumors in the temporal and occipital lobe in your brain." Buck closes his eyes and turns away. In a way he feels like he's known for a while. But he never thought it was serious. It's like, you know when your brain tries to trick you into thinking you have cancer, or internal bleeding or something, but you never actually believe it.

Buck doesn't do therapy in person. Buck doesn't talk about his 1.0 days. Buck doesn't talk about his past sex addiction. What happened was consensual, and his fault, and the team clearly agreed, because they had joked about it. It's fine. It doesn't bother him anymore.
The Los Angeles courts don't quite agree. When probationary firefighter Victor Santana of Station 153 presses charges against Dr. Wells, the team come to realize just how deeply she hurt Buck - and how much Buck hasn't been dealing with it.
