Summary
This is a post episode 8 look at Cait and Vi and how they navigate their relationships while also healing from all the trauma in their lives. It also acts as a study into the Kiramman Family dynamics, how Cait moves past her time with Ambessa, and how Vi handled life during her Pit Fighter phase.
Flashbacks with Maddie, Ambessa and others serve as missing scenes to give a look into the thought process and reasoning behind much of what we saw in the show.
This is part 1 of a show continuation i was asked to write. It's pre-written and I will be post approx. 3 chapters per day most days :)FYI the full title used to be Lovers, Hunters: The Clouds are Hanging Low.

Summary
Caitlyn doesn’t like hospitals.
Even with the best and most private room that her last name grants her, and with Vi by her side, she’s uncomfortable at best. She doesn’t like being a patient, being the constant focus of anyone and everyone that comes into her room.
Vi catches onto this very quickly, almost instantly in fact, seeing how Caitlyn’s broken body sharply tenses when anyone touches her, even to perform the most mundane and simplest tasks that a medical professional can do. It’s why Vi remains close to hold and to squeeze, to run a thumb over the back of a pale, cold hand.
I’m here, Cait. It’s all okay.

Caitlyn’s ears were ringing from the explosion.
There was smoke and dust all around her, obscuring her vision as she staggered to her feet, trying to process what had just happened. One minute she’d been half-carrying Vi away from the carnage after a Noxian soldier had sliced a nasty cut across her stomach, the next Vi was pushing her away and running to throw herself in front of Jinx, who seemed to be reaching out for the monstrosity that had once been their father. Caitlyn just barely caught a glimpse of a tiny, blue-haired figure crouched underneath the roaring creature before there was an explosion of blue light, the force of it so strong she was knocked off her feet.
Now, she gripped her rifle at her side, scanning desperately through the smoke for any sign of life. The name left her lips like an instinct, panic taking over as she screamed. “Vi! Vi, are you out there? Vi!”
