Summary

Summary
Having lived in exile from the citadel since he was twelve, Will knows well the necessity of having a daily schedule: wake up early, gather materials, make tinctures and poultices for clients, take care of the garden, and never use magic when your hands will do just fine. These are the tasks he lives by until one ordinary day when he wakes up late, and it all spins out of control. He goes to the garden in the evening, far past his usual time, and finds an unwelcome visitor stealing his food and flowers. It only gets worse when he learns this man has been visiting every night for the past several months, unbeknownst to Will, and his eyes look just a little too familiar.
And once it becomes clear his unwelcome guest isn't going to stop his nightly visits anytime soon, Will is forced to choose between pretending as if they're strangers or divulging the peculiar past they share, between wearing a mask and allowing the truth to be told.

Summary
Mike is the son of a duchess. The Byers are merchants in the nearby town. As children, they met in the woods, and for seven years they played there together - and fell in love, in the sweet-savage way that children do. When the House of Wheeler was relocated by order of the king, sweet, noble-hearted twelve-year-old Mike tearfully promised he’d come back and marry Will when they were older.
Over ten years pass. They haven’t seen each other since, and Will doesn’t expect to. Until a red-haired swordmaiden from House Wheeler arrives at their doorstep, delivering a letter. It's Mike, Will's childhood sweetheart that he hasn't felt heartbreak for in years, asking if he wants to uphold their childhood promise.
Lonnie is ecstatic. The Byers haven't been doing well, of late, and this could be their out. Will isn't so sure.
But when they arrive to the Wheeler Mansion, they discover another wrinkle: while Mike promised himself to Will over a decade ago, his parents just recently promised him to Elenor Jane of the House of Brenner.
The debate now stands - which promise is more legitimate in the eyes of society and the law?

Mike had just uttered the question that had haunted Robin her entire Sophomore year and she stood there in shock. The tapes slipped through her arms, clattering on the floor. What was Steve doing there giving him advice? Robin should be there, encouraging him and letting him know that it's okay to feel like this.
Mike goes to Steve for some vague advice, but Robin knows what's up.

“Hiii Wiiiiill” - And God, no matter how different and messy the voice on the other line sound. Will would know that voice anywhere. His heart leaps in his chest.
“M- Mike?”
“Yes, It’s me. Mike.” - The man, then, starts to giggle. Fucking giggle.
Will’s head is spinning. It’s been, what? 5 years since him and Mike had something close to an actual conversation? Probably... It was at Jonathan and Nancy’s marriage, and even there it wasn’t really that much of a talk, more of an exchange of awkward words from two childhood best friends who couldn’t bear to be close anymore. At least one of them couldn’t.
or; it's been years since the last time will saw mike, but when the man calls him, drunk, in the middle of the night, asking for a favor, what can he do but help?

He catches a look of something in Will’s eyes, and suddenly he sees the ceiling tilt above him as he falls backwards onto the bed. He’s so surprised all he can do is let out a confused “bwuh?” and then nothing more when, in one swift movement, Will pulls himself onto Mike, one solid thigh on each side of Mike’s skinny torso.
The boy above him gives him a timid smile, and it’s so unfair how he can look so shy when he’s effectively pinning Mike down with his naked body and god, he’s so cute—
Will huffs out a soft laugh as he reaches down to close Mike’s gaping mouth with one finger.
“Let me?”
