Again and again we read this page, only to turn it and find the same text, over and over. When will it change?
Odile's feelings towards Siffrin are bothering her. Past her initial suspicions, under her protectiveness, pressing against her care, is a "need". Words she hates, feelings she pushes away, the urge to take someone and treat them as a thing to satisfy with. After so much travel, she almost convinced herself she'd gotten over it.
When Siffrin sleeps in the same tent as her, with nobody as her witness, that part of her is convinced there's no other choice.

Her secrets were her own, her lies were to protect - either you or herself - and you understood her well enough by now to trust that she had good reason. Some things were better to let slide.
