It was throbbing tolerably earlier with the walking and then the fighting against Wen Chao’s people, but now it burns in agony, the phantom pain of teeth sinking into his skin still lingering. The pain bleeding through him is his excuse for when his face openly conveys his shock when he Wei Ying returns, no longer alone.
Wei Ying has Jiang Wanyin’s left arm swung over his shoulder, eyes ranking over his brother with obvious distress as his gaze settles on Jiang Wanyin’s right arm, red with fresh blood and dangling uselessly by his side.
“Why didn’t you pull him to safety?” Wei Ying hisses behind him, and Lan Wangji is pleased with himself for not groaning aloud when he sees Jin Zixuan right behind them, putting his own arm around Jiang Wanyin’s waist as the two men set him down across from Lan Wangji cautiously.

Where the act of wanting was as good as a death sentence to that desire.

So, it didn’t start out like this.
Alfred would scoff at the statement, about how Bruce was trying to justify the whole situation to himself. It had started out as a simple design, black everything with black outlines and black hood. It got a little more intense as the world went on, got wind of his ghost on the streets, and became scared of The Bat . So Bruce got a little more creative with it, Alfred and him had a good laugh over the name, the scare, and Alfred had a vicious streak of humor that he had passed onto his ward-
So now the suit had a visible bat-theme, an insignia to drape in the shadows and to paint across the streets of Gotham.
It only took a year into the whole charade of heroism for Bruce to overhear a conversation between some goons- some low level thug hired by the Riddler this week- about nothing at all pertaining to what the hell the Riddler was doing in the sewers but instead:
“ The Batman can fly, you know, I’ve seen his wings.”

When aliens came to Earth, they came out of the ocean, not the skies. To combat them, humans created jaegers: monstrous robots so massive they needed two pilots to control them. Ten years into the war, Rhodey is knocked out of commission, and the Iron Avenger jaeger is in need of a new pilot. Tony isn't particularly happy about Peter Parker, a sixteen year old, joining the fight by his side, but sometimes you aren't given a choice in these things.
