Steve gestured him down lower, like he was wanting to share a secret and Eddie supposed he was, in a way.
Eddie crouched down, hands out of his pockets, elbows on his knees, leaning a little further in, desperate to know, to learn, to have the thing that would finally put him in amongst the other archaeologists.
But then he didn’t even have a moment to react, a moment to think.His chin was grabbed in between firm fingers and he was pulled forward, sending him off balance, only barely managing to catch himself against the bars of the cell.
Eddie’s mouth was open in a gasp and his eyes were wide as a set of dry and chapped lips pressed against his own and there was the barest swipe of a tongue entering his mouth.
“You’ve got a deal.” Steve hissed, pulling back to speak into his mouth before it was all over and Steve was ripped away by the two guards behind him.

“No, screw you man! I didn’t spend days running from the police just to be locked up in here by you.” Eddie turned to the door, trying to leave, but was stopped by Hoppers iron grip on his arm. Right on one of his shallow bat bites too, fuck that hurt.
“This is nothing like prison, Munson, believe me.” Hopper grimly assured him, stepping into his space.
“Sure feels like it to me.” Eddie ground out. The way Hopper looked at him now, all calm before the storm. Force and anger. It reminded him of…-
“Don’t tempt me Munson, I will gladly hand you over to Powell if you give me enough reason.”
“For what?!? I didn’t kill Chrissy!” Eddie was practically flailing with rage by now. Feeling lightheaded with fury.
“Sure didn’t kid, but I can get you arrested for being a drug dealer. How’s that sound?”
Eddie was speechless. “You- is that really how you…”
Hopper tries to isolate Eddie from the rest of the group after season 4. His motivations aren't great though and a confrontation leads to a huge argument and Eddie runs away. -

Steve had always known it was a possibility... Marrying as a business transaction, rather than for love. It was part and parcel of being born a royal.
A simple fact of life.
But meeting Chrissy helped to ease his worries of what his life was soon to become. She was sweet. She was kind. Even if they never grew into romantic love, he knew they would be very good friends as soon as he could whisk her away from her cold and harsh kingdom.

“Oh, nah, I’ve known for ages.”
Eddie’s mouth flaps like a fish, clearly shocked, which Steve is deeply satisfied by, “you’ve known for...you know? You knew? You already know? How do you know?” Eddie’s surprise is genuinely comical, and nice to see since it’s almost over done and that’s more like usual Eddie.
Steve sighs, “it really, really wasn’t hard to work out. You are not a subtle guy Eddie-”
“And what the hell does that mean?” Eddie snaps back, clearly affronted.
Steve stands straight, and without missing a beat lifts his shirt up to his armpits. Eddie’s eyes immediately, hungrily, rake over the newly exposed skin. Steve waves a hand in front of his own torso like a magician revealing the trick, and Eddie turns bright pink and starts sputtering, “that’s not- I mean- you can’t-” but he’s glaring at the floor, chagrined and caught out, and he knows it.

A slow smile creeps into his features, and his dark eyes flash. “Oh, you’re asking the good questions, Wheeler.” He takes another long pull of his joint, dragging the moment out for dramatic effect. Steve doesn’t care. He wants to know the answer. He needs to know.
Eventually, Eddie blows out the smoke, eyes a little hazy as he grins at the ceiling.

‘I run a DnD group, got held back in school twice, and live in a trailer with my uncle,’ Eddie said flatly. ‘What part of that screams dick magnet to you?’

“What?” Steve asks, like he didn’t hear what Eddie said.
Eddie’s stomach turns. “It’s okay. You don’t have to say it back. I know it’s probably too early, and I— I, uh, I just needed to say it.”
Gravel crunches under the tires and Eddie realizes Steve has smoothly pulled over onto the side of the road. When he puts the car in park, he flicks the overhead lights on, filling the cabin with a warm yellow glow. He turns to Eddie. “Say that again.”
“Huh?”
Steve leans closer. Eddie catches the scent of his cologne and the faint smell of popcorn that always clings to his shirt after work.
“Say it again, Eddie,” he says, his voice all soft and pleading.
Or: Three months into their relationship, there are still things that Steve and Eddie are scared to do. After Eddie's inexperience comes up in a game of Truth or Dare, they both decide to face their fears head-on.

Dealing drugs isn't a lucrative occupation anymore, and getting a legitimate job in a town who still considers him a killer isn't much of an option, either. Eddie is beginning to think skipping town and starting over somewhere no one knows his name is the only chance he has left. Steve has another idea.
