They didn't have a picket fence or the luxury of a mundane 9-to-5 job, but there was a sense of permanence and contentment in knowing how someone looked first thing in the morning, hair mussed from sleep (and Bradley's hands), in lazy evenings of liberty spent on the couch with his feet on Mav's lap, something black and white on the TV, and rowdy nights at the Hard Deck, Mav's heated gaze finding him across the green felt of the pool table as Bradley sat at the piano and ran his fingers over the keyboard.

But Five wouldn’t answer, Klaus knew. Not yet. Convincing Five to open up took finesse. For starters, Klaus had to get him talking again, so he tossed out the first question that came to mind – “Hey, did you and Dolores break up or something?”

Sometimes, Hal wondered which of Bruce’s kids would be the one to kill him when it was Hal’s fault the self-sacrificing neurotic died.
“Blondie? She’d be directly at the head of the charge organizing the attack. For a kid who isn’t even yours on paper she is weirdly protective of the Daddy Bats.” Hal laughed.
“Stephanie and Jason would use the flames from the wreck to pop popcorn.” Bruce snorted, wincing at the light in the bathroom and re-thinking his decision to not shower in the dark.
“Bullshit, unless they were popping it to feed the rescue team currently resuscitating you.” Hal snorted, taking over control of the water temperature when it became clear that Bruce had resigned himself to shower at whatever temperature the impossible dials decided for him, “For a guy who is widely regarded as not being a team player you have some rabidly loyal kids. The only Robin who wouldn’t come crashing through a wall to rescue you is one who is currently kidnapped or otherwise incapacitated.”
