Takes place after the events of “Aang; The Last Avatar” movie but an AU where Zuko and Aang have had crushes on one another since they were kids and Katara and Aang’s relationship didn’t last, but they’re on good terms. Aang is also upset over the fact that he is the last of his kind and upset over his missed opportunities, despite having students to follow in his footsteps.
Zuko is presented as an Omega years ago and Mai is in a relationship with Ty Lee. As the days go on, he suddenly is pressured for an heir by the Royal Council, who intend to “follow tradition” and hold a “Tournament of Suitors” for Firelord Zuko’s hand in marriage.
While they take a break from finding artifacts and pieces of the past, Zuko and Aang wander away from the camp and into a cave…with some magical properties.
Well, let’s just say that Aang gets his wish and Zuko is surprisingly okay with how things turn out…he just has to worry about the damned tournament once this little vacation of theirs is over and they have to go their separate ways.
Rated M for Sexual and ABO Themes, Language and Canon Typical Violence.

"I've missed this," Wu murmurs against him, the words ghosting across Mako's skin. "Missed just being with you." He raises himself up onto one elbow, hovering over Mako and scanning his face like he wants to freeze the clock between one second and the next and commit every last detail to memory. One of his eyes shines like a jewel in the silvery light of the moon while his once carefully coiffed curls—made a ruin by Mako's roving hands—hang in a loose, shimmering wave over his forehead and cast the other into deep shadow.
It knocks the breath from Mako's lungs, and for a moment he can only stare back. In his mind's eye he watches every version of Wu he'd known and loved—and those he'd yet to meet—converge at a single fixed point above him, into a man not quite old but no longer young, and just as beautiful as he'd been the day he'd flounced his way into Mako's world like it belonged to him, too.

What if "Dragon Age: The Veilguard" was not stuck in such a development hell? What if Project Joplin had not wholly been abandoned? What if we truly had received a game more in line with the first three?
A hypothetical look into an alternate universe where the fourth Dragon Age had a tad fewer problems in its 10-year development cycle.
Disclaimer: I don't hate the game, I actually think it's quite great given the development hell Bioware went through in those 10 years. This is more of a hypothetical universe where there was less of that behind-the-scenes drama. Just a fun writing exercise.

Summary
Mako is stuck playing bodyguard to a spoiled, irritating rich boy who has no idea what the real world is like. He's bored and frustrated and desperate to get back to his regular life. But as the threats to the prince get a lot less theoretical, he's forced to confront the fact that he may have judged Wu wrongly from the start.
After having the life he built for himself in Republic City completely destroyed, losing his home and his family and every sense of safety, acting as the carefree, wealthy life of the party is about the only thing Wu has left to hide his terror and his loneliness with. And to hide his ridiculous crush on the gorgeous, irritable firebender assigned to protect him. Obviously Mako wouldn't return his feelings, but maybe they can learn to get along at least, if he can just get Mako to relax now and then.
STORY COMPLETE by Chapter 27: any additions now are one-shot stories that take place after the wrap up of the main plot.

Brow furrowed, lips pursed, the occasional nod that says, why, yes, international trade, yes, very important. His predecessors transcended the mortal plane through spiritual rigor. Today, Aang has done it through the sheer force of not giving one single fuck about this conversation. He finally lets his mind slip. Eyes closed in mock contemplation, he nods at random intervals as a memory from last night in the Firelord's chambers rolls across the back of his eyelids.
OR
The council drones on. Aang worries over a slip-up. The Firelord arrives. Negotiations move to the table.
