Chris looked back at his supposed friend just in time to see his cheek twitch as he clenched his jaw. It was a minor movement, but it was the first sign of any emotion other than smug amusement since he got here.
The man lifted his glass to his lips, taking a sip as if only trying to taste it and not actually drink. “Hardly,” He forced, looking up to make eye contact with Chris. “Does the name Albert Wesker really mean nothing to you? I find it hard to believe.”

Summary
The wooden stairs creaked ominously with every step Albert took as he descended into the dimly lit depths of the basement. A metal tray was balanced carefully in his hands with an assortment of tools that were concealed by their sterile packaging. Each creak and groan punctuated the announcement of his presence. Upon reaching the bottom, he stepped silently onto the cold hard concrete and straightened a fraction more. His cool blue eyes turned towards the unmoving figure slouched over in the seat beneath the bare swaying bulb above them.
Albert’s strides were measured with the stone cold calm the reputable Captain always portrayed in every situation. He moved with poise, drinking in the wilted figure of a man chained to the metal frame of the chair.
He donned the medical gloves with a distinctive snap. His blue eyes never tore away from the man's wilted and seemingly helpless posture. Albert wasn't so gullible as to believe this ruse. A black leather strap cut a red line against his cheek where it was tightly secured to a bite bar in the man's mouth. His head hung in a look that displayed a sense of exhausted defeat.
Albert knew better than that. Chris was a man that never knew when to quit.

Summary
“Captain Wesker!” One of the R.P.D officers who's name Albert could never care to really commit to memory, came rushing into his office looking breathless and alarmed. “You're needed in the jail cells. It's Redfield sir.”
The young frazzled officer looked absolutely shaken as Albert rose from his seat to investigate what exactly happened to his pointman. “Does he need medical attention?”
If Chris was in the jail cells, and something serious happened, it was most likely accompanied by an injury. Why nobody thought to call his phone for this was beyond him, but he relented when the officer stammered.
“Y-yeah. I think so. There's blood and he's- he's just not acting right.”

A routine patrol goes sideways for Chris, forcing Albert Wesker to have to re-evaluate his pointman's status. What he discovers is an unexpected interference from someone else in Umbrella, and a pleasant surprise in Chris' reaction to his beloved Captain in particular.Bookmarked by fishtski

Persuading Wesker to take a break has always proven to be difficult, but nobody is completely invulnerable. Chris didn't expect to have to take matters into his own hands after witnessing his captain push himself through an unexpected illness. But he had no problem being just as stubborn if Wesker refused to allow someone to care for him voluntarily.

His light glared off the glass back at him as Chris approached, trying to get a better view of the person within. They were tall and lean with numerous sensors attached to different parts of their body. A respirator of some kind was situated over their face as the monitors documented their oxygen levels. In the tank, thin wispy strands of blond hair hovered like a halo around the sharper familiar features of a man. The center of his chest was marred with large grotesque scarring that had healed over time. Similar scar tissue rose along both arms crisscrossing the underside like pulsing seams that cut across the spiderweb work of pale veins.
Chris didn't even need to look at the name placard for the subject on the heads up display beside the tank. His fingers found the digital screen as he punched in directions and commands, the breath sinking low in his chest and suffocating him as his heart pounded within the tight restrictive confines of his ribcage.
He couldn't believe it. He didn't think this was possible or even real. Was this really the same man he killed over a decade ago?

Cold.
That was the only word that rang in his mind as he came to in the suffocating small space. The cold was inside him like it never planned to leave, set deep into his bones and making him shiver uncontrollably.
As he slowly stumbles out of the broken cryopod, ready to fight, he’s confused to find the Umbrella facility completely empty.
No matter. He doesn’t have time for any of this. He needs to contact his team by any means possible and stop them from being deployed to the Arklay Mountains anyway. Everything else can come later.

Imprisoned inside a BSAA-funded research facility and forced to continue the research that made him too valuable to lose, someone needs to be willing to stay in a room with a man who insists on ensuring the failure of each person unlucky enough to step through those doors. After exhausting every other option, the facility settles on the only person they believe might survive him: Chris Redfield.
What begins as an attempt to understand the man who betrayed him and to make peace with years of unresolved grief slowly becomes something neither of them was prepared to confront.
Chris thought he would just be looking for the point where his Captain ended and Albert Wesker began.
Wesker thought he already understood Chris.

Summary
“Did it work?” Sheva looked uncertain at Chris’ side as they watched, and waited, anxious to see the monster Wesker will inevitably become.
“I think so.” It was painful to listen to this. His old Captain clutched at his head with both hands as if he could claw through the tender flesh that remained between him and bone. He fell back to his knees. His head dipped down, tucking close to the floor as Chris watched his former colleague curl up on himself. His screams of pain had started to subside, whittled down to desperate gasps and heaves for air that didn't sound like it was coming on right.
This kind of slow suffering was making him uncomfortable. He considered ending this now as he raised his handgun until his sights lined up with Albert’s head. His finger came to rest on the trigger as he started to squeeze.
“....Chris….” He froze.
His finger hesitated, loosening its grip on the trigger as he watched his old boss. The breath stilled in Chris’ throat. The sound of his name on Wesker’s tongue was so terribly wrong. Distorted by pain, gutted by desperation but there wasn't an ounce of malice or hatred in his tone.
It sounded crazy, but Wesker sounded afraid.
