Summary
After a sudden encounter with Morgana, Merlin is severely injured, only managing to survive by calling the Great Dragon. However, he must return to Camelot still affected and somehow hide this from Arthur. But what's another secret on top of so many others?
Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin, and the whole idea of how Merlin's blindness works is from TA Barron's Merlin series (which is amazing and everyone should read)

Summary
“Where did you learn to do that?” Gwaine asked, following Merlin up the bank.
“This is how normal people fish,” Merlin replied dryly. “Not trying to stab them with swords.”“This is a knife,” Gwaine retorted, sounding every bit as sulky as he felt.
“Still, you didn’t catch a fish.”
------------------------------------------------------Gwaine saves a young Merlin from a beating and ends up with a new little brother to take care of on his travels.
Or, what would Merlin be like if he had Gwaine influencing him over his formative years?

In Which A Young Woman Approaches Camelot To Report A Monster Attack
* ** ** ** *
“Well, Merlin—” Bessie nearly giggled; the King had a strange way of saying Merlin’s name that felt as if he were compacting an entire speech conveying a wealth of affection, exasperation, trust, and something else she couldn’t properly name into just two syllables— “Do you know what this thing is, or do we need to fetch the books?”
“A basilisk, if we’re lucky,” Merlin said at once. “Or a cockatrice if we aren’t. You’re lucky it was newly-born, or it would have changed you completely into stone.”

Summary
“Gwen, it’s terrible,” Merlin said. “He’s polite! He’s kind, even!”
“And that’s a problem?” Gwen asked, dryly.
"I’m going to have to go through an entire week serving the perfect Golden Prince, and then go back to my Prince Prat, and I think it’s going to break me, Gwen. He’s going to get me used to it, and then it’ll be back to mile-long lists, and being called stupid instead of spectacular and how am I supposed to handle that?”
Gwen said, hesitantly, “I thought you liked Arthur?”
“I do,” Merlin said, sounding even lower than before. “I have to.”
* * *
When a visiting Prince visits Camelot, and takes Merlin as his servant during his negotiations with The Crown, Merlin finds himself being seen in a way he'd always wished Arthur would see him, and doesn't know what to do with any of it.Series
