Summary
John knew that, by now, he really, really should have developed a better way to communicate direction to Arthur.
‘Left’ and ‘right’ clearly did nothing. Perhaps he should have started saying the exact opposite of where they needed to go, since that was what Arthur always did. Might be best to cut it off at the head.
John swore that he would design a better solution for them… eventually.
Being on the run from gods and monsters for months gave him much more pressing and deadly issues to think about during the long (yet still too short) nights of rest. And now that they were somewhat stagnant, living in Noel's apartment and learning how to settle, the issue didn't seem pressing. Not when Noel had the advantage of a full body, and could lay a gentle hand on Arthur's shoulder to guide him through the city.
There was very little opportunity to remember the plan, almost no need to actually set it in motion to begin with. So John kept pushing it back. It just wasn't a problem.

Scarier yet, things with Viktor are still . . . complicated. Just because he can’t seem to bring himself to kill him doesn’t mean there’s any chance they’d ever come back together. He woke up half-crushed on a futon with Jayce’s head on his shoulder, muttering in his sleep. There was a blue screen flickering in front of them—Hextech, he thought, for a terrified moment, before something in his blood told him they’d fallen asleep watching something together, a movie, which he sort of understood, even if he didn’t think he could explain it.
In the cold glow of the screen, Jayce looked strangely… exposed. It was easier to look at Jayce through the beady white eyes of a god, or his soul in the cosmos, than it was to look at what Viktor had done to him now. For a moment he touched their foreheads together—selfish, selfish—just to feel Jayce’s warmth on his skin. The illusion that he had started something instead of ending it, saved someone instead of ruining him.

In this world, there is no keen-eyed assistant to the Dean to read through his notebook and to talk him off the ledge—but something draws him towards Zaun, where he gets his ass kicked and is rescued by an unusual man. Against all odds, Jayce manages to find Viktor anyways.
