“Nothing, no. It’s just very telling that’s what you start with.” Ronan says with a grin that makes Adam’s eyes narrow. “Fuck, Declan’s gonna love that. Any chance you can convince him you voted for Trump?”
Adam just keeps staring at him until he shrugs and looks away, “Hmm, it was worth a shot.”
“So if it’s not to impress your family with my glowing CV, then why am I here?”
“Blue said she had a friend who was willing to do this and that you were hands – ah.” He pauses awkwardly and very resolutely keeps his eyes on the road, “Would be handsomely paid for your services. You know how she cares about shit like that.”
“Right, right.” Adam drawls.

Which is why it’s terribly inconvenient when he’s offered a job at the Royal Palace and circumstances mean he has to take it. It’s even less convenient that the Prince is so nice. So nice and… mildly attractive. Mildly. He’s also a mess. A flirty, sheltered, privileged mess. It’s a good thing Lucas has things so under control.

Ronan was very happy to be immune to her but that didn't mean he wasn't sad to see the rest of his species entranced. When he looked at her purple-painted nails brushing against Adam, he could feel it beginning, like a flame making its first move, fueled by the alcohol rushing through his blood."
Adam has invited the gang over to the Barns for a party. Blue gets very drunk, Gansey gets very Gansey, Ronan gets very jealous, Henry is there and Adam doesn't get what's going on at all.

Adam looked Ronan over then, scrutinizing. Ronan smoothed his face to blaize uncaring, which was an easy look to put on. It was one of his well-practiced masks
“You don’t have something to say about that? Everyone always has something to say about that.”
A few years ago, Ronan would’ve taken that bait, but it wasn’t a few years ago.
“It’s your life, man.”
Something shifted in Adam’s expression. Under all the caginess a spark of warmth. Ronan had passed a test.
