Celebrimbor is not healed, may never be truly healed, from what Sauron did to him. But he returned from the Halls of Mandos, returned to Middle-earth, anyway: it is the only way that he can attempt to make amends for the devastating mistake of trusting Annatar and the ruin that his misplaced trust unleashed upon the world.
With the great smith who helped forge the Rings of Power on their side, the Council of Elrond has an option they did not have before. Now Celebrimbor and Frodo Baggins must journey together into darkness, along with a handful of trusty companions, in hopes of unmaking the One Ring before all of Middle-earth is swamped in a war that only Sauron can win.
But wounds of the spirit linger even more than do wounds of the flesh, and Celebrimbor's path through the shadows that Sauron wrought upon the world will be hard. After a disastrous first meeting, Thingol attempts to connect with Elrond, his one living male descendant. Elrond is more interested in negotiating peace between the Noldor and the Sindar. Neither get quite what they want.

It ain't fair that the Socs go after Johnny. He gets banged up enough at home. Nobody wants to get jumped but at least Dally and the older boys can swing back well enough. Johnny can fight hard when he's got no other choice but against a couple of Socs, he's no better than a blunt switch.
"How many? You know any of 'em?"
"Five."
Five? Darry bites his tongue hard to keep from cursing them out right there. Two on one was bad enough but five against one? That was downright malicious. They were lucky Johnny even made it home.
In a moment of weakness after being jumped, Johnny Cade knocks on the Curtis' front door. He's so cold and the house is just so warm. He's shown kindness and learns that it's what greasers - and brothers - do for each other.

“S’awful late, Ponyboy, ain’t you got school tomorrow?”
These last weeks have done a number on Ponyboy. Sometimes he just can’t help the snideness of his tone, no matter how much he suppresses it, no matter if it’s toward Darry or Soda or anyone else. He’s still a Curtis, after all. “So what?”
A flicker of something flashes in Darry’s eyes, a relapse, but he bites down on his bottom lip and he quickly lets it go. They’ve worked on this together. They’re grown now; they’ve moved past the pettiness. “So, you need’a sleep, Ponyboy. We’ve been through this a million damn times.”
“I was sleepin’.”
“And?”
Ponyboy just shrugs, and Darry furrows his eyebrows a little.
“Well, get back to bed. You look exhausted, kid.”
or, seventeen-and-a-half year old ponyboy wakes up from a nightmare, and both his brothers are right there to help him through it as they reflect on the last three years together
