Summary
Whatever hope the Terran Accord has of winning their conflict with the encroaching Affini Compact withers by the day. Few people will likely mourn it when it's gone.
After years of systematic, Kafkaesque denial of the hormones that Jolene desperately needs to be herself, the presence of an affini ambassador in and around her University opens a new door. The towering plant has been offering xenodrugs for party purposes, likely as a way to find collaborators in the crumbling regime. With no particular loyalties in either direction, Jolene makes a deal in exchange for Class-G's to enact the changes that her own systems will not.
Spiru Gaba, Sixth Bloom, is not among the most honest of Affini to make that deal with, but maybe she'll manage.

Hiatus Notice
As of August 24th, 2026, this story and the Midas Series by extension have officially been put on hiatus. I really and truly love telling Mira's tale, but feel that my writing and artistic skills have not yet matured to a point where I can present my creative vision exactly as intended. I expect this hiatus to last a couple months at the least, and 1-2 years at the longest. Once I return, there will probably be rewrites, new art, and new scenes for you to explore, but I can't make any promises. In the meanwhile, do check out some of my other stories. I have a lot of grand adventures coming soon, so stay tuned!

Cypress Amaranthia, First Bloom, is a xenosophont intake manager on an Affini rescue ship. She's happy to help hook other Affini up with pets, even though she hasn't taken any on herself. This is how she can help the most people, which is far more important than any personal issues she might be dealing with. She doesn't need to address the aching emptiness in her own life if she's bringing happiness to others.
When she decides that Holly is one of the people she needs to bring happiness to, things get complicated fast.

Or, perhaps, the fear that her friend will somehow escape the greatest thing to ever happen to humanity. Her Owner offers her a chance to understand just how doomed the rest of humanity are - and how inevitable the loss of the Accord and its offshoots truly is.
