He’d had a strawberry milkshake afterwards for some reason and Dean had made constant comments about how it was girly because it was pink, which even at twelve struck Sam as faintly pathetic, but Dad had just laughed at him and ruffled Sam’s hair and been in too altogether a good mood, when Sam felt like curling up under the table of the diner and trying to rub every spec of dirt off his body and never coming out.
“No one’s done that, Sam,” Brady says, a little tiredly. “Pick something different.”

No matter how many times they meet and his eyes flicker with dim recognition, whether it’s at the dive bar on Beacon Street or the French cafe near TD Garden, she wonders which will happen first: Ilya Rozanov realizing she’s twins with the guy he’s been hooking up with since his rookie season, or that he’s in love with said guy.
Of course, she also feels the same curiosity every time Shane tells her he has to end it, only to fall right back into Rozanov’s lap.
Boys are so dumb, honestly. It’s a shame she’s quite fond of them both.

AHHHHHHH is basically my most coherent thought on this series.
i read the first nine in like a two hour sitting (and then the last one in about ten minutes when it came out) and. i am so obsessed i really did devour this.
the atmosphere is so.... the feeling of disgust and guilt and tension is so *real*, and there's a sense of just visceral discomfort. also perfectly captures sam's drowning hopelessness, and his disconnect from the rest of his life. just separated, subtly but tangibly, from everything that makes him sam winchester.
sam's shame and self-loathing permeates these fics constantly (that's my unreliable narrator!). all the twisted ways he convinces himself he wants it, it's his fault, he's not a victim.
the portrayal of relapsing!! the fear/certainty that your loved ones are going to hate you for it, see you as nothing but your sickness, the overwhelming guilt even as your body fights for more.
i have never felt more physically uneasy while reading anything. nausea-inducing experience. this is gutwrenching and an amazing psychological horror. my brain chemistry
