Maybe it was because Percy was reminded of that promise he wrangled from the gods at age sixteen, but one moment he was looking at the younger camper, and the next he was throwing some of his food into the fire and asking Poseidon for some Disneyland tickets very, very loudly.
But even though he wasn't quite sure how it happened, the small, shocked laugh that James let out made it worth it.

Summary
Being born a Hybrid is a middle finger from God. Or that's what Tommy claimed.
Multiple arguments supporting this statement already started showing when he was young. At 16, he and two of his friends - Tubbo, A Ram hybrid, and Ranboo, An Enderian - built a small house in the deepest parts of the woods to shield themselves from the omnipresent racism towards hybrids the humans kept. Tommy never understood the reasoning for such prejudice towards his kind, but there was nothing that he could do about it now.
Because Tommy wasn't with his friends anymore. Tommy was stuck in a cabin owned by the man he knew even before he was chained to the wall and held there like some sort of prey, constantly threatened and beaten and humiliated. It went on for five months after the hunter caught the Avian, and the teen has long since lost hope for his friends rescue.
Until, his rescuers came.
But they weren't Tommy's friends.

Summary
Five stones of power turn into humans. Each one a puppet to whoever finds them. Until one day, Phil becomes conscious. He wants to be more so that’s what he becomes. A legend, The Angel of Death. Then it turns out he isn’t the only stone that turned into a human, so he searches for them in hopes of preventing what happened to him from happening to them.

Summary
Techno slammed his fists against the transparent wall of his prison, trying his best to break it down. His captors backed up, whistling anxiously to each other.
He gave the barrier another loud crack, delightedly watching as they scrambled away in abject terror.
Nodding in satisfaction, he turned around to meet the eyes of two other prisoners that had been thrown into his cell.
He froze.
Right.
There were now aliens in his cell.
And he probably just scared the hell out of them.
Or: Humans are a dangerous race feared by all on an intergalactic scale. Techno, a human ex-soldier that was abducted by aliens 18 months ago, is biding his time in captivity.
This changes when two young aliens are sent into his cell to die.

Summary
Tommy is waiting for him, depending on him. He’s just a baby, way too little to leave the burrow, so he needs Wilbur to make it back, to escape the hound and bring the food home. So Wilbur runs even though it hurts like a wildfire climbed inside of his skin and lungs.
He runs and then he sees a hole at the base of a magnificent oak tree—too small for the huge dog to fit into, but more than big enough for Wilbur. His feet skid on leaf litter as he makes a sharp change of course, but he doesn’t fall.
With snapping jaws at his back, down the hole he tumbles.

Summary
“Who did this to you?” the Blood God growls, low and dangerous. And anyone in their right mind would be afraid, would be shitting their pants, but Tommy just flicks his eyes to the floor and mumbles that it doesn’t matter.
Echo hums softly, brushing his fingers gently over the bruises coloring Tommy’s cheek, stopping at the gash over his eyebrow before carding through his hair. Tommy doesn’t mean to lean into the touch, he knows these men are dangerous, are deadly, but he can’t help but feel safe, wrapped up in their brutal care.

Summary
The pirates,The Blood God, had spared his life and his son’s, but he knew better than to think it was an act of mercy.
The captain of The Blood God was a legend of a man. Technoblade’s tales had barely escaped across the waves, as no one usually survived encounters with him. Technoblade took lives, spared no one, and everyone had been taught to fear the sight of a red Jolly Roger.
“Why would you spare me?” Phil asked, toeing the line between pushing for answers and staying compliant enough to live. “It would be more fitting for someone like you to kill me in front of my son.”
Phil didn’t like the look he received in return, a cold smile with unknown intentions. “It would, wouldn’t it?” Technoblade considered, eyes glancing between Phil and Tommy. “My plans for you aren’t set in stone, Philza, but if your son proves to be a useful hand, perhaps I’d let you live.”
Phil didn’t believe that. “Instead of having him kill me to prove his loyalty?”
The pirate dared him to say more. “Don’t give me ideas you don’t want implemented.”or

Summary
“He got hurt,” Tommy confesses brokenly, eyes shining. He angrily swipes the side of his hand across his cheek, but Phil has already seen the tears. “They hurt him, and– and I can’t fix it.”
A plea shatters across his face, begging and begging.
“You can fix him,” the fledgeling sniffles. “That’s what everyone says. Vampire blood is magic.”
“Little one,” Phil begins softly, straining forward in his chains. He doesn’t have a heartbeat, but pity pangs so strongly inside of him that it feels like one. “I can only- I can try."

“The point is that you won’t find me,” Tommy said, wriggling in Phil’s hold a bit as he realized that they were in the den. Again.
Phil chuckled and nuzzled Tommy’s hair. “You claimed me as yours, little kit,” Phil reminded him with a soft smile. “I won’t apologize for claiming you as mine in return.”
Tommy growled unhappily but Phil only smiled benevolently down at him. He walked to the edge of the bed where Tommy now saw Techno and Wilbur curled up amongst the blankets, sleeping soundly.
Phil slowly lowered Tommy down between the two boys who immediately wrapped around him, tangling their tails with his.
Tommy stared up at Phil— not really knowing if he was glaring at the man or if he was pleading for mercy— who reached down and brushed a lock of hair away from his face, his expression sickeningly fond.
“I will always find you.” Phil whispered

Summary
Tommy should’ve known this was coming.
It had all been going so well. Granted there had been a few tense moments, like when Phil finally let him into the cockpit and he almost blew the ship up, and a lot of learning curves for both him and the crew, but aside from that it was going well.
But now something was wrong.
He could feel it in his chest before it happened, a weird, almost painful sensation that started lower down in his diaphragm and got caught in his lungs, a horrifying, deeply annoying, horribly embarrassing—

Summary
Godling protected the village that decided to start worshipping them. Love and happiness were enough for them, they took their worships and the names bestowed upon them and they thought the people were happy too. When fear poisoned worships and when the new temple turned out to be prison, Godling faded and so did their names.
Till someone new came by and gave them a new name.

Techno tenses slowly, reluctantly confirming by nodding, (behind him, Wilbur is sending multiple telepathic apologies that Technoblade doesn’t seem to receive.) Phil smiles wide.
“So what does it mean?” Phil asks softly, and whatever turmoil Techno had faced before is gone now, relaxing as he smiles and says “Wilbur has a sibling.”

Summary
Wilbur was exhausted. It was raining and his throat hurt and with every step, Tommy was getting heavier in his arms. But he’d already made the kid walk so far today and in all honesty, Wilbur would rather deal with sore arms than a six year old’s tears of exhaustion.
Finally, Wilbur stumbled onto the street they tentatively— and illegally— called home. It was lined with identical townhouses, one of which was currently empty. They’d been squatting in it for nearly a month now. It wasn’t the safest place they’d ever slept, but when it came to insulating them from the winter chill, Wilbur would give it five stars on any hotel website.
Unfortunately, the window he climbed through was not the one they'd been using these past few weeks. This window belonged to the most terrifying man Wilbur had ever laid eyes on.
Or, while on the run, Wilbur and Tommy accidentally break into the wrong house. Technoblade finds them asleep in his living room. Family ensues.

The question wasn’t unusual. Phil often broached topics like this during their conversations on the porch.
Wilbur hummed from beneath the shade of a large pair of sunglasses resting on the table. The sun had mostly set already, but sometimes the brightness of the porch lights bothered him. “Sure.”
“Is there any particular reason why you’re so afraid of water?”
This wasn’t the first time Phil had asked him a question that made him take pause, but it was the first time a question had ever sent ice running through his veins like it was now.
Wilbur took a deep, steady breath, glad to be hidden behind the tint of the sunglasses. He settled on an easy answer. “It’s dangerous.”
Phil hummed his agreement. “It can be. But lots of things are dangerous.”
Not like water, Wilbur wanted to say.

Summary
Tommy and Wilbur lived in the house of two Giants, hidden between the walls and borrowing what they needed to survive. So far, they were undetected and determined to stay that way.
But the Giants weren’t home right now, so Tommy was only a little bit careful to be quiet as he scrambled through the mousehole and made his way to the kitchen. He was huffing and puffing by the time he hauled himself up onto the countertop and his hands burned from the thread he’d climbed. He wound it back up around his waist as he caught his breath, then started hunting for food.
He was lucky. There was a slice of cake on the counter, wrapped in plastic wrap. Tommy took a chunk of it and wrapped it up before burying it in his pack. (And a swipe of frosting for himself as a mid-scavenging treat.) After that, he managed to track down bread, a bit of peanut butter that was stuck on a knife, and one blueberry.
Wilbur was going to be so impressed.

Above him he hears voices; two—the pink-haired stranger and another, more jesting, the one that had tackled Wilbur from behind because “he’d drawn a gun, Techno. What do you want me to do? Wait for him to shoot you and then tackle him?”
There’s a boot right next to Wilbur’s right hand, and he has the fleeting thought to grab it, unbalance his assailant, but it’s two against one, Wilbur doesn’t have a weapon and he has to keep Tommy safe.Or: Wilbur doesn’t care about the end of the world. He just cares about protecting Tommy.
