“Let us see them,” Cellbit argued. “Then you can see.”
“But you could be trying to intimidate them. How do I know you haven’t, I don’t know, kidnapped them or something?” The woman questioned.
“They’re our kids! Why would we lie?” Etoiles asked.
“Because you took them into a fucking horde!”
or, while out scavenging for supplies, Tallulah and Richarlyson get separated from Phil, Cellbit, and Etoiles. This leads to an unexpected reunion.

Siren snorted. “No. I’m just here to order some food.”
“Wh-What about him?” The cashier asked, glancing at Tommy. “Did you- did you kidnap him?”
“I mean… yeah, let’s go with that in case this ends up on the news,” Siren shrugged, looking back at Tommy. “I kidnapped you, right?”
“Yeah, sure,” Tommy agreed, knowing that if they said he was kidnapped, it would keep people from getting suspicious of why he was seen in public with Siren. “Anyway, can I get the chicken nuggets happy meal, with a coke?”
or, how Tommy—who is not a hero, or a villain, or even a vigilante—saves the life of one of L'Manberg's most feared supervillains, and accidentally ends up becoming the resident doctor for every supervillain in town (and maybe gets a family along the way too).

His eyes were full of the rising dawn, pale blue painted across the sky like watercolor. His flesh was made of moss and grass and tiny bits of flowers. His hair was made of clouds and fields of rye that rippled like scarves when the wind danced through them. His heart was full of magma, fiery and bright and with a light built to never burn out. And yet he looked so human. with baby blue eyes and sunshine blonde hair, pale skin with a rose colored tint, a smile like freshly fallen snow, a laugh like birdsong. And though years and eons had passed, he hardly changed, still untainted and young, barely a teen.
Theseus was born from the stars, and placed on earth long ago to keep it company, to look after it.

Ever since that boat came through, trailing the sickness behind it like an octopus releasing ink. The iridescent slime that looked so pretty when it first arrived. The three of them gazed at it in wonder on the water’s surface, hypnotized by the way its colors shifted faster than a cuttlefish and its silvery metallic appearance. Just like one of the human boats.
Wil swam through it on a dare. They all laughed as he darted in headfirst.
That was until he emerged on the other side, heaving and clawing at his gills in pain.
And that was only the beginning.
It spread its tendrils further into the water and their home turned into hell.

The lump in its nest moves, a dark head popping up from the tangle of fabric with hair sticking in all directions, sleep mussed.
Jason yawns, blinking into the darkness, and Talon is unspeakably proud when its chick finds it immediately even though it’s standing still. Its chick is getting better at seeing in the dark.
“Talon?“ Jason asks, voice hoarse from sleep, but he still tacks on tiny chirrup. Their own unique way of greeting.

Richarlyson hobbled over, and she grins, moving to meet her brother half way to start up a conversation, maybe offer a flower, but before she could even go three steps forward a large crack sounded out, the cracks on Richarlyson’s shell dancing across his body causing him to still.

Summary
Nika has been very careful all this time to not overwhelm Luffy. They had never expected to get so attached to a host, but Luffy was surprising! Absolutely the funniest best human they'd ever interacted with. So while the promises the boy held fast to chafed like chains many sizes too small, Nika wouldn't let that hurt Luffy.
It was fine, because Luffy was always fun to be with, even when they weren't as free as Nika wished.
Still, while promises weren't meant to be broken, Nika wasn't against taking advantage of the Luffy-sized flaw. Better yet, Luffy wouldn't be against it either, not when it would mean freedom and adventure.
