Like a deer reacting to a twig snapping, Ocean raises her head from her homework immediately. A noise had broken her concentration. She wouldn’t describe it as a knock, it was more like a tap, like someone had accidentally bumped into something, and she would have written it off as an accident if it weren’t for the fact that it happened three consecutive times.
