Bilbo Baggins did not go running out his door for want of an adventure, he went running out his door because of a terribly worded contract and a laughable quest that somehow held the spark of other.

Summary
In many universes, the Axxilan Anti-Pirate Fleet is so busy mopping up the remnants of the scum turned up by the Clone Wars that they don’t take much notice of the regime change (the Republic didn’t have much use for a little backwater in it’s final days and the Empire didn’t have much use for it in their early days). Then they’re too busy with the crop of slavers that Empire allows to flourish that they don’t realize that the Empire is actually deliberately responsible for most of it.
In this one, Firmus Piett arrests a smuggler named Chi Chuchi during Order 66.
(And from there, everything changes.)
Or:
Firmus Piett is a rebel spy in the Empire. Firmus Piett has just been named Emperor after the death of Palpatine. Oh dear.

Summary
In every universe, it is a very baffling life to be a rank and file trooper on the Executor. There are Sith temper tantrums, officers who are made near cryptidic by scuttlebutt (did you hear Piett tore out a wookie’s throat with his teeth?), and odd little inconsistencies and behaviors of the ship itself.
Piett can be seen addressing himself to flickering ceiling lights, Darth Vader is enigmatic and ominous, and Veers has been compared many times to an Arkanian cockroach. All of this is op spec aboard the Executor.
But even by these standards, this universe is… a bit odd.
Or:
Lieutenant Hakal almost slams into General Veers in a darkened hallway at three in the morning. The General's face is lit from below by the datapad in his hands. In the low lighting, his eyes seem to glitter oddly.
Veers stops and stares at him for a long moment, unblinking.
“Sir?” Hakal asks tentatively.
“I think my skin is vibrating,” the General says calmly.
“...What the kark sir.”
“I’ve had twelve cups of caf in the last hour.” He’s still staring.

Summary

Summary
Seven fifty a month. Average rent for a one-bedroom in downtown Berk runs about eleven hundred a month if you don’t want to live above a club or a subway station or dog kennel, which Astrid doesn’t, so she’s willing to deal with a lot for this seven fifty a month. But a lot, even as a vague concept, still has boundaries. Boundaries that loom ever closer with every kitchen cabinet she opens to find bare and empty space instead of bed bugs or black mold or a secretly cemented in shrine to Tom Brady or Cthulhu.
The closet isn’t a walk-in, but it’s clean, and the landlord will let her set her own rent schedule. Hell, it’s quiet because neighbors both up and downstairs are renting on airbnb from out of state, so she basically has this whole side of the building to herself. Most of her few boxes are almost fully unpacked when she finally starts to come around to the idea that sometimes when things seem too good to be true, it might just be because they are that good.
And that’s when the bright red laser dot appears on the light fixture on the kitchen ceiling.
