(Or, Steve is cursed instead of Max, and this is my take on him season 5 style working his way through his mind, trying to escape Vecna and return to Hawkins to help the Party win, with a side of the gay agenda.)

Summary
Steve’s visions might be disjointed, confusing, and generally a pain in the ass, but they did help him save Barb Holland. So when he has a new vision - one that shows Bob Newby's death - he knows he can’t ignore it.
Unfortunately, whatever’s creeping back into Hawkins isn’t waiting around for Steve to figure things out. The Upside Down is spreading, something is very wrong with both Will and Barb, and the demogorgons are definitely not done with them yet.
Now, Steve and his growing group of friends have to try to stop it before things get even worse. Which would be easier if Steve wasn’t also freaking out about the fact that he probably likes boys, and he definitely likes Eddie Munson.
Barb, meanwhile, is having plenty issues of her own, like terrifying hallucinations of the Upside Down, and even worse – an unrequited crush on her best friend.

Steve’s not laughing anymore.
“See you, Munson,” Steve says, lifting his gaze a second too late; he knows Eddie has seen his eyes linger. Eddie pats the roof twice in goodbye and slams the door shut, sauntering towards the trailer.
“Was that just me, or...” Vickie whispers.
“Yep,” Robin interjects. “Could cut the tension with a fucking knife.”
Steve squeezes his eyes shut, groaning.
“Don’t start, Robin.”
Or: Steve Harrington moves to Hawkins, trading his parents' empty mansion for a rental and a job at the local repair shop. He's looking for peace and quiet. Instead, he hires Eddie Munson as a mover, steals his rings, and learns that sometimes, finding balance requires embracing a little chaos.

Henry scratched at the raised lump in his neck, tears springing to his eyes. He scratched, and pulled, until the metal bit against his skin and Henry pulled his fingers away to catch specks of blood under his fingernails.
“There has been another successful transition.” Papa informed, his tone somewhat pleased. Almost satisfied, that he has turned another child into a monster like him. “I believe this child,” Papa looked away for a moment, almost in thought. “Will be different from the rest.”
Henry finally slowly sat up at the remark, his brow furrowed. “Different how?”
“He is stronger than the rest.” Papa nodded. “We will continue the experiments, of course. But once he is grown,” Only then, did Papa turn to him again, “You will keep a close eye on him. That will be your job as an orderly. Do you understand?”
Henry nodded, counting the child’s number over and over in his mind. Number Seven, the seventh child.

It is branded onto my skin, immutable as fact, and I am reminded every time I glimpse the ink on the inside of my wrist. Next, he took my clothes, my hair, my blood. And, when that was not enough, he took my life, too. The Hawkins Post had announced it dutifully: Henry Creel, age 12, tragically murdered by father, Victor Creel, alongside mother and sister. More “facts” in black ink.
…Now I call myself Henry again. My birth name. It feels smaller in my mouth than it used to, but that is a quality I have grown to appreciate. Henry is a human name— ordinary, and soft at the edges, as I am learning how to be. I think it sounds best when he says it.

A trickle of blood fell from the man’s left nostril, which caused him to lift his hand, using the back of it to clean it off. Those eyes. . . there was something about those eyes that drew Mike in, causing his heart and breath to pick up. But all at once, he felt like all the air had escaped his lungs. The Upside Down didn't feel as dark when the man’s eyes met his. Those eyes were pinning him in his spot. Mike was. . . mesmerized, in a trance. So much so that it felt like he and that man were the only ones here. That is, until he heard a loud,
". . . Will? Is that you?"

Will was never found in Season 1 but somehow survived the Upside Down. Fast forward four years, Mike and the others venture on a mission to save Max, only to encounter someone they had long thought was dead.
