Xisuma stepped closer, studying it. He noticed little things about it as his vision got clearer and the illusion of the fog fell away into the background with everything else.
It was a man, or at least humanoid, lying on its side like a wounded animal, curled up in a twisted crescent shape. He was dressed in a grimy prison jumpsuit, hair shaved and skin tanned and bruised beyond recognition. He looked emaciated, almost skeletal, with thin skin keeping his tattered form together.
Still, Xisuma knew who he was.
Or, Keralis returns home. Xisuma is there, waiting.

The taller man just laughed gleefully. “I can tell you’ve been hanging out with Joe too much if you’re making puns out of my name.”
“Hypno…tizing?” Beef repeated, his brain trying to make the connection.

xB’s fins perked up in fascination, his attention hooked onto Cleo’s alluring words.
