Assassins.
That was probably the first thing you’d think of when you thought about the city of Felia.
Sure, they liked to go on and on about their many amazing industries and how great they were, but the truth was, no one was spared a piece of the bloody reputation.
If you were upper class and you didn’t know any assassins, then you’d best head to another city, quick. The Beyond was a killer, but the killers here were worse. The Beyond would take it’s sweet time killing you, but it wasn’t like it took any joy out of it. Not like the assassins of Felia. Sure, most of the time they’d play with you before finishing it, but the end would come swifter, with less chance of escape.

Of course, he had no idea that Loki was under its influence as well as him, and hated it just as much as he must. But there was no way for even a word to escape Loki’s lips about it, not while his body was not his own.

The imposter Odin’s eyes widened.
He stared at Thor, in something that could have been fury, disbelief, hope, or all three.
“You … you cannot be my son,” he answered, almost as though he was trying to convince himself of it. That wasn’t what Thor expected. He was very clearly Thor Odinson, why would an imposter disbelieve it? If they were trying to be Odin, they weren’t doing a very good job at it, it wasn’t as though he had many children and trouble remembering which of them were his and which were simple his proteges or anything, and he literally had often refused to acknowledge Loki and Hela as his children anyways.
Thor had always been his favorite.
He didn’t deserve it.
But he didn’t have a choice in it.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” he asked.
“You cannot,” he repeated. “Because I have no children,”

It was a simple fact, really.
Everyone who knew him knew it long before he’d figured it out himself.
It didn’t matter what he did to try to prove that he was, he always ended up in the same position, begging for what he could never have and it would always be refused, no matter what he did.
No matter who it was he was begging.
Begging for mercy just brought more pain.
Begging for a savior just brought cruel laughter and worse loneliness.
Begging for a reason, an explanation, some truth after a lifetime of lies, only brought denial and invalidation of his desires.
And they were right to do it.
He didn’t deserve that.
He didn’t deserve anything.
OR: In which Loki's not having a fun time but he's not being mind controlled anymore so that's something, right? And Thor is suspicious that shit has gone down without him and it has, but Loki isn't about to say anything because he's a stubborn little shit and that's just how it goes. I also haven't rewatched Avengers in a while so forgive any canon inaccuracies.

There was something very wrong with Azula.
Not just on the level you could see.
Everyone saw her for the monster that she was, even long before she realized it for herself.
Even her own mother had known it.
That was why she’d always favored Zuko over her.
Her perfect first child, her golden boy, was perfect, in her eyes, and could do no wrong. He was sweet and innocent and never even played wrong. He was perfectly content to sit and watch the turtleducks swim around and around in circles in their pond, serene and peaceful.
That wasn’t Azula.
She wasn’t like that, wasn’t born or built for peace and kindness.
She was like her father — destined for greatness, and greatness, as he had told her himself, was only achieved through killing. Through the violence her older brother seemed thoroughly incapable of, for whatever reason.
OR: In which Azula is a sad girl, Mai and Ty Lee cannot convince this girl that there is such a thing as unconditional love but they will hopefully someday, and if Zuko heard about this, he would be marching straight in to give her the hug she so desperately needs.

Loki’s mind was a nasty place.
Full of glass memories, fragile and cutting.
Under the almost crystalline surface was nothing but pain, blood buried like oil under miles and miles of pieces of glass, almost as if it was a landfill.
And the pain was borne of the places the glass had cut him open like the blades that had cut open his body and the words that cut open his heart, and not one of the three could heal, never in a million years.
He knew his mind was broken.
It wasn’t fixable.
