Nigel wanted to run his fingers through Adam’s curls and soothe him. But instead, he saw himself raise the gun and level it at Adam’s head. He couldn't help but entertain the thought of what would happen if he could defy the pull of the trigger, if he could maybe surrender to those unbelievable blues.
As if a devious god had answered Nigel’s wishful thinking, and destiny refused to let him linger in possibility, a sharp blow struck the back of his head in the next heartbeat.
The ground tilted. His vision blurred as he fell forward, collapsing at Adam’s feet.
And as the darkness closed in, the last thing he saw was those terrified blue eyes finally meeting his own.

After his breakup with Beth, Adam finally found a new job. That it was in Bucharest, across the world from everyone he knows, was both a blessing and a curse. Everything familiar was gone, he would need to rewrite his entire existence, but at least he would no longer have to deal with his awkward friendship with Beth, or the way everyone always stared at him. He had no idea he would be moving in just down the street from the headquarters of a gang that ran most of Bucharest's seedy underbelly. Nigel didn't question any of Adam's quirks, and the rules he lived his life by might be just what Adam needed to balance his life back out.

When the two find a mangy boy on the streets who isn't afraid of Adam's oddities, inspiration strikes the knight: Harlan hires the boy as a squire and Adam gets a new friend. Will this arrangement break the curse?
Basically a riff on the movie Penelope and the idea that curses only have power if you believe in them.
