Yes, he had emotions and yes he expressed them (sometimes, hardly) but he was an assassin for Blood River, a place where emotions did you no good and only served to make you weak, so he had learned early on to dampen and hide his emotions, leaving his face a blank mask as to not show anyone what he was thinking or feeling.
