Summary
Sokka has been hated and abused his whole life for being a firebender, so when the Fire Nation comes to abduct him, it turns out to be a blessing. Everything changes when he meets Azula. Befriending the damaged princess, Sokka will learn that his new home is not nearly as perfect as it seems.
Meanwhile, Azula has never forgotten seeing her brother Zuko get murdered by their own father. Ever since, she has done everything she could to survive, even if she hates herself for who she's become. Befriending Sokka sets her on a new path, but will she continue to obey her father, or choose to make a stand against the war?
Everyone believes Zuko is dead. Little do they know he lives, trapped in a Fire Nation prison camp. There, he will discover the true cruelty of the war and suffer in ways he never imagined. When he finally returns to the Fire Nation palace, he will have to decide whether to enjoy happiness with the people he loves, or risk everything for a chance at stopping the hundred year war.
Sokka, Azula, and Zuko have all suffered terribly, but by finding strength in each other, they have a chance at ending the war and bringing peace to the world- if only they have the courage to try.

Nine years after the war ended, seven years after she escaped the asylum, five years after the search was called off, Azula is forced to go back to the Fire Nation.
She has no intention of reconnecting with the people who hurt and abandoned her, no intention of bowing to the hypocrisy of her brother and his friends, no intention of staying any longer than she has to in this nation she sacrificed everything for, only to be discarded. She wants nothing more than to go back to her simple life as a farmer.
There is, however, one reason why she will go back and play her part. A young girl who has no one else in the world, a young girl who understand what it is to be rejected by your only family. The only one who has looked at Azula and seen something worth loving.
She will do whatever she has to to ensure that the girl doesn't grow up like she did.

Azula has never been stupid. Her wits sharper than any blade, spear, or even those dumb fans those Kyoshi Warriors were so fond of.
But try as she might, she has never truly understood love.
When she was younger she used to wonder. She would squint up at sun, begging Agni for an answer. And when silence followed, she would stay up at night, staring at the starry sky. Because if the sun could not answer then maybe the moon could.
She receives answers from neither.
She is 8 when she decides she does not care anymore. She might not understand love. But at the very least, she thinks she knows what it feels like.

A Forward by the Scholar Zuyen:
It has been a long upheld truth of our great nation that after the twin falls of the disgraced Fire Lord Ozai and Princess Azula, and their subsequent imprisonments, neither of the two ever regained contact with our well-respected Fire Lord Zuko. While Fire Lord Zuko ensured the humane holding conditions of his estranged father and sister immediately after his ascension to the throne, he reportedly never saw a need to continue communications with them. Before writing this book, my answer to such an obvious statement would have been, "Blasting flames—well of course he didn't!" Now, though, my answer would be quite different. But best leave that til later.
Fire Lord Zuko, when questioned about such matters, only ever gave one answer in response, saying: “A true leader has no need for snakes and scoundrels. Dragons are far superior.”
Given his far more professional reply, it is no wonder that he was the fire lord and I am a less-than-humble scholar.

So when Zuko, accidentally, performs a life ending blow on Azula’s lower abdomen she realises who has caused all woes in her 14 years of life; Her Father.
And In true Azula style fixes to kill him after wishing to be brought back from the dead.
But the road to true revenge never did run smooth.

Azula was certain she had met her end, chained up to a sewer grate after a humiliating loss by Agni Kai to her traitorous brother, but then she is kidnapped by the Dai Li, that’s how the Gaang sees it. According to the Dai Li, they saved her. Azula is thrown into their underground world of ancient tradition and legacy and crystal caverns. Will she fall in place or find an entirely different destiny awaiting her? Is she brainwashed beyond repair or is there something in her worth believing in? Some seem to believe so and others believe she planned her escape. The lines start to blur when Azula can’t tell the difference between tragedy and fate.
