Sorry for the bad summary, the scene sneak peak I was going to use was too long for the summary box. Anyways, AU where Sonic accidentally scares Tails in his werehog form and decides to adopt the poor guy! However once they finally bond things around them very quickly turn south.

Summary
Shadow is a supervillain. He is Ultimate, one of the worst in the city. He deserves the death penalty before he deserves fondness and affection, but he gets exactly that when he indulges the vigilante Phantom, also known as Sonic.
He also doesn't deserve a family, but after one of the heroes kills Sonic, Shadow finds it impossible to abandon Tails, Sonic's remaining family.
And he definitely doesn't deserve a second chance to make things right, but the universe seems quite insistent on giving him what he doesn't deserve.

A promise that was shared between two friends, each filled with the young and naïve hope and faith that only appeared with the ignorance that a child could hold. A promise that only one now holds. Held tightly between the shaky hands covered by two worn out gloves and a similarly worn out heart.
The young teen took in another gasp of a breath. One that reminded him that he was still alive, away from the danger.
“I made it out,” he whispered as a tear trailed down his face, afraid that if he made a sound too loud that he would find him, “I made it out Blaze. Just like we promised.”
