    “Az… Aziraphale?”

    “Mhm. And the other one?”

    “Crowley."

    She made him promise to remember those names. That if he was ever scared, or hurt, or in danger, he would pray to them to come and help.

    Three years after armegeddon't, Crowley and Aziraphale have left Warlock to have a normal life. But being the son of a diplomat puts a target on his back, and that hasn't changed just because Nanny and Brother Francis aren't around anymore.

     
    In other words, I read a really amazing Warlock-gets-kidnapped fic and had to write it from Crowley's point of view.

The people around town smile fondly at his “ways” like eating the same breakfast at Missouri’s diner, paying cash, having his bestie Charlie do his books and pay the bills. He doesn’t answer text messages: “Just call me, dammit.” Sam criticizes him, but he shrugs and says “if it ain’t broke, don’t break it.”

    Cas Novak has a Ph.D. in Speech/Language Pathology, and has spent much of his sabbatical year writing his “publish or perish” book. Still reeling from a nasty divorce that raked up his shameful past, Cas is looking for a peaceful, quiet place to edit his book, and maybe heal old wounds. A student from one of his online seminars, Eileen Leahy-Winchester, offers her brother-in-law Dean’s cabin, because it’s a “really peaceful place, Cas.”

    As Dean and Cas grow closer, Cas begins to suspect that Dean’s “ways” may be hiding a painful secret. In turn, Dean suspects that Cas may have a big secret of his own. When a dangerous storm threatens Dean’s most cherished horse, his secret is exposed. But can Cas overcome his own shame to help Dean, and will Dean let him?

    “I really don’t know what you’re talking about,” he says in that deep rumble. “I don’t know any Crowley. I don’t know about a gig, and I don’t know whether you’re ‘the right guy’ or not, because I really have no idea who you are.”

    See, now those air quotes are just cute, but the man that's doing them is emphatically not cute. Since Novak has put down the glass and is looking directly at Dean, Dean can see that he’s gorgeous. Above his eyes, there’s a tousled mop of hair that looks like perma-bedhead or passionate fingers, and either way, mmm. He has a knife-edge nose and cheeks that could cut glass. His lips look dry, but soft, pillowy. He has a defined shadow–not yet scruff–from well trimmed sideburns down his jaw and over his upper lip. And of course, the eyes.

    Those eyes are looking at Dean as though they can see into his soul. Dean counts his heartbeat one, two, three, four, then Novak–the fucker–moistens those dry pink lips with the tip of his tongue. Dean’s legs devolve to primal goo, and he clutches the bar to keep his body upright. The rest of him, hmm: sanity, good sense, ability to talk, they’re all arm-in-arm and have left the building.

    “Well?” Novak snaps.

    “Uh, what?” Dean stammers.

He stayed on the floor for quite some time, cold and lonely and in pain. He imagined this is what the fall had felt like, the burning of skin replaced by the burn in his soul. He deserved this."

So Castiel can certainly survive having to live next to an annoyingly cheerful (beautiful) man, with kind green eyes and an unhealthy affinity to classic rock, who is determined to be his new friend.

Wild animals like Dean, for instance— a mountain lion who's entirely too smart for his own good. There's a man in Castiel's dreams named Dean too, but that part's just a huge coincidence.

      Hmm somehow doesn't have the ring of Shapeshifter (Skinwalker from the show, Shapeshifters in the show are those that switch human skins) or Spelllcraft. Wonder how, as from the start it seems like it is indeed Dean as the summary suggests, his behavior

      Is a Puma, tawny fur (so normal for Pumas) and golden eyes

       

      Canon characters in different roles but still themselves, even Meg and Crowley are still demons and are chill-ish (well, not exactly chill-ish but y'know)
      Hmm for whatever reason, the few demons and angels that are on earth, are stuck. I assume others, new ones, can't reach earth from Hell and Heaven

       

      Confusing, Dean knows Cas here? Doesn't make sense unless memories are altered, more than just Dean's memories being messed up as Puma and him feeling like he's dreaming half of the time
      Otherwise I reckon it's a mistake from the author, as while Dean may learn the name of the human taking care of him as people talk, he's only known as James/Jimmy there by the other workers

       

      Honestly the whole dream and weirdness to suddenly being sexual is fucking weird

    “I don’t even know what that means,” Crowley protests desperately.
