Summary
The wind whispers to those who listen, as do the rain and the worms. They whisper of a foolish king and a merciless deity. They whisper about the slow decay of the world and the rebirth of all things.
They whisper that, during the Great Purge, Uther trapped a being no mortal was ever meant to trap. He bound it in the deepest cave of his kingdom and atop the highest peak of his land.
And the rain whispers: fear not, for only mortals remain bound forever. The seasons will come and go, the world will freeze and the snow will melt. And one day, Emrys will be free once more. Magic will walk the Earth anew.

Arthur is in love. Merlin is tired. And Mordred will free Emrys, no matter the cost.

Summary
I'm going to be honest I haven't actually finished merlin, but I'm new to the fandom and wanted to dip my toes into the fanfic side. I was inspired from the line in skyward sword and think it would be a cool explanation for Merlin being the chosen one. There will probably be more in this AU because I like the idea so much, but I just wanted to start simple. I haven't written in a while. I remember seeing a similar fic that inspired me, but now I can't find it for the life of me so thank you whoever you are.

Summary
Merlin is not human. Not truly. And this body—this fragile, mortal vessel—is never enough to contain what he is.
He has always had the ability to slip free, to unshackle himself from flesh and bone, if only for a moment.Arthur learns of it in the worst way imaginable. And with it, he learns the truth of Merlin’s magic.

Summary
One morning, Merlin wakes to silence. The ley-lines are still. The druids are powerless. Creatures of the Old Religion begin to wither and die. Magic, once the heartbeat of Albion, is gone.
All of it, except for him. And as Camelot descends into confusion and fear, Merlin remains untouched. But that is the problem. Because Merlin was never just a sorcerer. He was never just a servant. He is the source. The cradle. The god who forgot he was divine.
Now the magic starves, and it feeds through him. As Gaius pleads for secrecy and Arthur demands answers, Merlin is left with an impossible choice: reveal the truth to the prince he loves—or let the world rot in silence.
And the longer he waits, the hungrier the magic becomes. The lonelier he becomes.

Summary
Merlin is not a sorcerer.
He is magic itself—older than language, older than the stars, shaped into mortal form and bound by fate to serve the one king who might unite Albion. To Arthur, he is only a manservant. A friend. An annoyance, perhaps. But beneath the clumsy smiles and rolled eyes, something...old stirs.
And now, the world is screaming. Magic—his magic—howls with the weight of a coming storm. Visions of war. A crown shattered. Camelot in flames. Every time Merlin listens to the bones of the earth, he loses a little more of himself. Every time he holds his silence, the voices grow louder. Until at last, they begin to break him.
He can no longer keep the truth buried. Arthur must know what walks beside him. What protects him. What might one day destroy him. Because something is coming. And it will fall here. And kill them all.

Summary
Arthur is dead because Merlin has failed. Merlin’s plagued by guilt and the feeling of general worthlessness when a stranger god starts him on a journey to achieve the correct ending.
After an aeon and a half, coming into his proper power as Emrys, an idyllic universe he misses dearly, and a lifetime spent in the modern era, he says scratch that. He’s gonna talk to his mum, fall platonically (yet madly) in love with his mortal enemies, all the while discreetly guiding the young and spry Merlin of this universe to not lose his mind while keeping his own Arthur alive.
There's also this bit about Arthur being Eurydice that chooses to break through the doors of the Underworld with the power of his muscular calves and various gods' love for quality gossip.

Summary
If Merlin were to be honest with himself, a thing he so rarely allowed, he would have not been surprised by it in the slightest. But lies were hard to break, especially when told to yourself over and over again. They have a way of infecting the mind, pointing it further away from reality with every whispered statement.

Summary
Title is inspired by something Gaius said in episode13 of season 1, Le Morte D'Arthur
-witerwallyanerdMerlin had been living a lie since he knew what one was. Ealdor lied in the border of Cenred’s kingdom and Camelot, and was much more tolerant of magic than Camelot was.
Even so, you could only show so much ability before people got suspicious.
So in Ealdor, it had always been playing down his abilities. He never imagined he was going to be hiding them completely. Merlin lived by Gaius’ rules, most of the time. Half the time. Whenever they didn’t get in his way, if he was being honest.
However, recently, his magic had been itchy, for lack of better words. He felt it under his skin, in his veins, his hair. Heard it in every breath he breathed, every word that came from his mouth. -

Summary
Slightly a canon rewrite? Most of it is written from Arthur’s POV with some exceptions.
Arthur is a basically sweetheart in this, he wants to be the protective scary boyfriend that everyone fears but that is actually Merlin. It is a slow burn but that is only one sided, Arthur is very quick to be intrigued but Merlin wants nothing to do with him for the most part which does change. In simple terms: Merlin is basically Arthur’s anchor of self restraint.
I don’t think we seen enough of powerful merlin and there were times that he deserved to go all out. He has a hero’s heart but a villains mind and I wanted to encapsulate that in this.
The slow burn is real but the protectiveness starts very early.
(Discontinued but I am in the process of rewriting it.)

Summary
Merlin is tired. Magic had been dying for ages, and he'd tried to stave it off but to no avail. So now the apocalypse has descended upon humanity, and he is so, so tired. So in true Merlin fashion he had to do one last stupid thing, but truly, he couldn't possibly harness that kinda power, right? In his last moments he wished for when things were simpler, before things had turned to right shit.
He hadn't expected it to work. What was he supposed to do now? Could he fix everything?

Summary
When Leon discovered Merlin's magic the night before the battle of Camlann, he whole-heartedly expected to be struck down by the god of magic that had apparently been living amongst the people of Camelot for years. At the very least, he was prepared to go down fighting, as useless as that would be in the face of a god who had just easily destroyed a cliff in order to block the mountain pass.
What Leon certainly wasn't expecting was for Merlin to decide that they were now close friends. What the hell was Leon supposed to do now?
