Summary

A canon divergence, driven by a Galra society where sex is used as social glue. Of course, within the Imperial fleet, things get very dubious and outright nonconsensual, and the threat of no longer being able to take care of his two particular mates drives Sendak to desert.
Ulaz and Thace have already blown their cover and escaped with Shiro, and they're pretty surprised to have visitors at their hideout, particularly their three favorite war criminals, all alone and in desperate need of help.

Shiro's determined to help him, but realises in the end that there's nothing he can do but let it play out as it had for him.

Shiro let the door slide open and guided his clone inside. He tapped at an identical panel on the inside wall, closing and sealing the door with his passcode. He met not-Shiro’s eye, let go of his wrist, and stepped closer to him, just to emphasize the fact that he perceived no threat.
“Because you’re not responsible for what Haggar made you do. Because you protected them when I couldn’t. Because Keith and the black lion thought your life was worth saving, and I did too.”
The clone shook his head. “Cocky,” he said. “Arrogant. You think I’m you, because I look like you. But I’m not.”
“I know you’re not.” Shiro rested a hand on the clone’s upper arm, an impulse he didn’t have the energy to ignore. “But you’re someone.”

This fic begins almost immediately after Shiro's resurrection, except that Kuro also survives. Their shared and individual trauma might've been too much to bear if it weren't for the intense and inexplicable bond between them.
