Summary
Adolin Kholin has passed on to the Tranquiline Halls. He has left behind Shallan who had just found out she was pregnant with his child. Due to the unique circumstances and timing of Shallan's pregnancy in relation to Adolin's fall as well as the potential scandal of Kaladin being the father, Renarin and Shallan marry in order to protect the unborn child from being declared illegitimate.
Together they work through their new relationship and find that they do not need to be traditional to be a family. And maybe they don't need to go it alone.

Modern-ish (mid-2000s) AU with no magic or spren (our world) just our favorite characters (Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin) meeting/navigating college together. Think Stormlight with more girl-boy drama and lots of misunderstandings/miscommunications because I love that shit. If you're a millennial, get ready for some nostalgia. Especially where emo music is concerned because in my heart Kaladin is the OG emo kid. You can expect lots of typical millennial teenage angst/feelings/drama/pining/firsts and my typical crack-ish innuendo-laden prose. Also, we will be using ‘storms’ as a swear word because it's part of my vernacular.

But Kal is a Windrunner… oaths are the most important thing on Roshar to them. Now that there’s a wedding date set, he wants to break things off with me. Well, not really wants , but says he has to.” He knew his own eyes were beginning to well with moisture. “He says he can’t be party to breaking the marriage oaths we will speak.”
“But you still want to marry me?”
“If I can’t have him - and that’s just not possible - you’re the only other person I would have,” he told her honestly. “I understand if you want to back out, but I do love you Shallan. I can be a good husband to you in every other way. I just can’t lose Kaladin - I would throw myself into damnation if it meant keeping him. I don’t know what to do.” He ran a hand through his hair, frustrated, and a tear slipped down his cheek. Shallan was silent for a long moment, looking at him.
“Marriage doesn’t have to be about love,” she said finally. “Not for people like us. It can be about political advantage, personal gain, even money. All I want from my spouse is kindness and honesty. My own parents, I think they loved each other, once. But eventually things got bad. I can’t do that, Adolin - be part of an unhappy union - but I can come to terms with sharing you, and your heart. If the oaths are the problem, why don’t you guys speak some of your own?”
“Oaths of our own?”
“Yes - something that will satisfy Kaladin’s sense of honor and won’t make any children we might have illegitimate.”
Adolin looked into the hearth for a long time and then he looked back at her. “Will you help us? Find the right words?”
Shallan stood up, walking over to kiss him on the cheek. “Of course.”

Summary
Continuing on immediately after the events of RoW, the mission to Shinovar is a disaster and the contest of champions is void.
Kaladin is struggling with his growing responsibilities associated with his new appointment. New nightmares haunt his dreams and strange new abilities are an unravelling mystery as he draws closer to his fifth ideal.
Despite being in the middle of a war and Jah Keved royalty wanting to wed him, Kaladin finds himself slowly falling for someone else. Unwilling to jeopardise the fragile peace with Jah Keved their romance is instead kept secret.
Unfortunately, Kaladin never really was very good at deception.
When it is finally time to come clean Kaladin discovers he isn’t the only one keeping secrets. Hearing that he has a long-lost family member Kaladin seeks them out to reconnect but only time will tell if this was a blessing or a curse.

The saga continues;
King of Alethkar, God of Honour and single father. Kaladin’s life came crashing down around him after swearing his fifth ideal. It was the hardest one yet and in the aftermath of the trauma can he recover or will he shatter? Who can he trust when Navani has turned against him, Kalak betrayed him and all of his friends just don’t understand.
Struggling to cope with the grief Kaladin finds himself regressing as he lives a new and simple double life as a recruit. As it turns out Bridge twenty-three needed this new recruit just as much as he needed them.
Meanwhile the desolation continues as Odium does not back down after the Honour shard was reforged. Instead, it is Vyre who hatches a plan to try to turn the war back into the favour of the enemy.

What if....their lives, were interchanged?
