Summary
After Cloud and Tifa left, surely Jessie should fade away. Bleed out, high above the ground. But she was still here despite closed eyes. Gunfire above. The explosion, the felling of the pillar seemed forever stuck in the future. Pained, but lying slumped against the stairs was worse. Sunbathing was little better than this. With a groan, she sat up right. Wave of nausea and the dull ebb of her wounds. No good to Barret up at the pinnacle.
Jessie doesn't hang around to die at the pillar; there's still a chance she can get clear in time.

Summary
Meeting with, becoming part of Avalanche was nothing more than revenge for Tifa at first. Sephiroth had robbed her of her father and her home. She wanted to retort in kind, inflict pain on the man who carved a further indignity into her chest with his sword. But there was more at work than simply Sephiroth. The company who declared him as the first SOLDIER, who deployed the Mako reactor onto the slopes of Mount Nibel. The device’s unquenchable thirst would consume the delicate Mako fountain given enough time. Sephiroth might be no more but those who gave rise to him, who championed him, who sent him – of all people – to fix a fault with the reactor remained.
Avalanche have a plan to prevent Shinra's damage to the Planet. But is it the only choice?

Summary
The notion Aeris could catch the look in Tifa’s eye, to understand the meaning behind Tifa’s words to the ringleader of this rabble’s was not odd. That they should not/would not/could not be damsels in distress was something no woman who spent anything more than a week in Midgar would have trouble grasping. Aeris could fight. Not in doubt.
Tifa had known Aeris Gainsborough for perhaps fifteen minutes before they first got into a fight.

If only she hadn’t remembered the old stories, the old fairy tales. If only she hadn’t believed somewhere beyond the mountains was where the dead went. That Mom was now there. If only she had not – so young and utterly unprepared – tried to cross.
The myriad points Tifa feels the past could have gone so differently.

Summary
Yellow was the most prevalent colour of chocobo in the Gold Saucer races. Easily obtained and easier still to train. A Yellow would offer the rider a good shot at victory. The blues and greens were theoretically faster, but wilder, harder to handle. Mostly only usable by the more talented and experienced racers of which Tifa was one. There were moments when Tifa could not help but marvel at the direction her life had taken; from finding a tiny abandoned chick on Mount Nibel, rearing it and forming an unbreakable bond with her companion.
Tifa is a professional Chocobo racer at the Gold Saucer. A new rider arrives with a chocobo colour none have seen before.

Summary
She could say the words. Speak them here in the night-time, in the stillness. But somehow not enough. They would fade, vanish from the world, the knowledge imparted lost. If she could not say them- Padding across the floor, Aeris opened one of her exercise books. What to say? Not enough to simply say it. There needed to be more.
She wrote quickly. 'Sector Five. Hyper Stop. Girl. End of aisle 2. Black hair, black jacket, black skirt. Someone close to her has returned to the Planet.'
Aeris knows - somehow - when certain people return to the Planet. Shinra are deeply interested in the limits of the ability; the denizens of Sector Five think she's weird.
Or
Aeris's journey from lab rat to flower girl to member of Avalanche.

Summary
An unexpected situation, but strange things could and did happen within the city. But Cloud did not simply get up; he flipped up onto his feet. Body curled back, hands bracing behind him to spring him forward and upright.
The spark of an older memory; of another SOLDIER who did the same thing when she was younger. Whose hair was similarly spiked but differently coloured. Eyes with the same glow but purple not blue. A man, her boyfriend, long missing without a word.
The infantry guy hurried up the last few steps, not noticing the slick street. He slipped over. “Are you okay?” Aeris hurried towards him, but the man was already moving, body curled back, hands braced behind him. He sprang forward and upright. She came to a halt. “Impressive.”
He tried to scratch the back of his head. “Zack’s running a little late and asked if I’d let you know.” He moved to leave and she caught his arm.
“Thank you. But you don’t need to go. Keep me company until he gets here?” She smiled.
Cloud reminds Aeris so much of Zack it's uncanny. But is that assertion entirely correct?

Summary
Fire had fascinated Aeris Gainsborough all her life; it was part of her, part of who she was and how she lived. Her obsession and maybe also a curse. Her earliest memories of it were uncomfortable reminders of her captivity and the ever present menace of Hojo.
Each Cetra has a specific type of magic unique to them; Aeris's is fire.

Summary
The future was never something Tifa had to worry about. A lot of was to do with her privilege. Mayor’s daughter. This despite Nibelheim's nature as a back-water town, slowly sliding into irrelevance as air travel became increasingly reliable. Few people needed to navigate the trails and pathways across Mount Nibel. The trade caravans of previous years no longer made their long winding ways from Wutai and off to the East. Tifa’s job might one day be irrelevant. But she still took the opportunity to train, to learn the mountain.
Tifa before and after the fire.

Summary
Hojo snapped something, calling for assistance. The infantry pushed past and into the crowd. Leaving Aeris with the SOLDIER. A glance, another. “Are you okay?”
Another outburst from Hojo, a struggle somewhere behind. Shouting. Aeris shook her head. The SOLDIER licked his lips and stepped to one-side. “Quick.” She darted past, out of the light and into the dark. “Wait.”
The SOLDIER straightened up, Aeris pressed against the wall, his body blocking the light. A flash of white. “Any sign of him?” Hojo’s voice so loud, so close. Aeris closed her eyes.
“Nope,” the SOLDIER said. Aeris held her breath.
How could a flower girl with a bad history involving Shinra ever wind up with a SOLDIER? Well, here's one idea. And how things might go after.

Summary
The train shifted away from Tifa, upsetting Aeris’s balance ahead. She grabbed for the train beside her; she let go looking panicked as the train slid away from her and fell back. Another crane wobbled from the impact and slowly toppled. Some other distant crash sounded and the crane jolted forward. Right towards them. No time to think; Tifa grabbed Cloud’s waist and with a pivot moved him out of danger, the pointed end of the crane punching a deep groove into the concrete.
Tifa, Cloud and Aeris need a route back through the Train Graveyard.
