Summary
Mars has witnessed a lot of things in his life and not all of them were pretty. And so, when his moon, Phobos gets ripped apart due to his gravity, he slowly begins to spiral down a dark path of self-hatred. 5 billion years later, the Sun (now a red giant) has consumed all of his friends and now Mars is left alone.
Alone to bear the pain, the guilt, and the grief of losing everyone he ever loved.
And he decides that he can't handle it.
OR: In 5 billion years, the Sun kills Mercury, Venus, and Earth. Luna isn't able to handle the grief of losing Earth, ends up crashing into himself into the Sun, leaving Mars completely alone with a deteriorating mental health of witnessing too much death. And so he does something dumb.

Summary
Despite the fact that Earth may not have the best memory, there are some things he’s always considered facts. Unchangeable.
So, when he hears about the past from Venus and Mars. When he hears about who they used to be and Terra and Theia... he doesn't know what to think. Doesn't how what to say or how to talk to Luna or what to do.
He's scared. Scared because everything he thought he knew was apparently wrong, except from the fact he has one moon: Luna.
And he's scared of doing anything to change that. To jeopardize their relationship again. But Luna isn't talking to him and doesn't seem to be telling him everything and he's scared.
OR after The Conversation in "this is brave, this is bruised" Earth and Luna (and Dark) have to deal with learning about their origins. About learning where and who they came from. And who better to help than another planet and moon duo that had a similar discussion recently?

They scoff to themselves. Earth had more to him unrelated to his status as being habitable, he did! He had a personality, boring as it had been, before he had taken on the task of becoming a home.

Asteroid Dodgeball! Earth currently held the winning streak in avoiding the shots thrown his way by Mars, even if he often had to forfeit, with the risk it had posed to his Earthlings…
Okay. Maybe Earth didn’t have anything but life to his name.
Was it really Luna’s fault for that?
Or: Earth has no real memory from before he was inhabitable, wiped after the asteroid that killed his dinosaurs. He doesn't think Luna's telling him the truth about why he wanted life. However, the other planets don't help him at all, happy to keep the truth– and someone with it, buried.
