Summary
Catarina Loss knew, theoretically, that the descendants of her son Ephraim were out in the world somewhere. She also knew that they were in some kind of danger. Danger that Brother Zachariah had been investigating for several decades now, with the help of Ragnor Fell and Tessa Gray, who did their best to keep Catarina from getting involved.
Shadowhunters didn’t have a statute of limitations on breaking the Accords after all. And helping a prisoner sentenced to execution—no matter how unfairly—by spiriting away a Nephilim baby to be raised in secret by a Downworlder certainly broke the Accords. In several places. Tying Catarina to Tobias Herondale’s line wouldn’t just complicate Zachariah’s investigation further. If her role in saving Ephraim was ever uncovered, it would put her freedom—and maybe even her life—at risk as well.
So it came as something of a shock when one of those descendants Zachariah had spent so long searching for barreled right into her legs in the middle of the Los Angeles Shadow Market while she and Ragnor were shopping for potion ingredients on what, until then, had been a perfectly normal Market night.

Summary
For better or worse, TK inherited the Sight: the Strand family's ability to see ghosts. It's usually a benign thing, just a few extra strangers on the sidewalk that no one else can see. But it's marked his life in many ways, especially in his attempts at escaping it. By starting over in Austin, the plan was to be normal, and adjusted, and happy again. But Austin has ghosts of its own, and it doesn't take long for TK to realize that there's no outrunning who he is, especially when something nasty starts haunting his new found family.

Going to war. Uncle Wood says they're going to war and yeah, Bradley thinks to himself dumbly, that makes sense. But if the nation is going to war, his entire family is going with it.
