"Nick can protect himself." He heard Quynh remind him. She was acting as his adopted mom, while Booker acted as Nick's dad.

The doctor asked, working as she pulled things out of Nicky.
"I would say immoral," Nicky noted, staring up at the ceiling.
"I believe this can change the world." She waved pieces of Nicky in his face, screwing a lid onto the cup

Yusuf begrudgingly let go and went to sit at the dining table. They were only supposed to take me," Booker spoke, turning his head to look away from them. "Human beings are selfish and will do whatever it takes to get what they want," Andy spoke, deadpan as she stared at the ceiling.
Now, I've already studied your not fully formed brains, now I could look at the fully developed brains." She spoke aloud, moving to grab a syringe, by now Nicky had equated it with a sedative. I think I saw Booker as a father," Joe admitted quietly, his eyes still focused on the clouds. "He was doing better, for a long time after we joined them. I guess I thought he might look at me the same as a son. It hurt to find out the feelings he kept hidden all this time."
Nicky rested a hand on his love's shoulder, squeezing lightly.
"I know, you always wanted him to be proud of you. But Joe, I do think he saw you the same way, but sometimes even parents mess up." Nicky tried to comfort him.
Joe just nodded slowly and took Nicky's hand. They sat in silence as the sun set.
They would be ok.

Summary
Harry meets Peter at four and a half (four and three-quarters, Harry insists, because adults always tell him he’ll understand things when he’s older, but he’s old enough for it to be annoying). Harry’s playing in the sandbox at Oscorp’s daycare (kinetic sand, actually, because what’s the point in being a cutting-edge, fortune 500 company if you don’t have the newest stuff) and Gregory Haskins stomps on his sand castle. Harry’s eyes fill with tears of frustration as Gregory laughs and steals the Tonka truck out of the sand, but before he gets the chance to wail, Peter is there.
Peter has a mop of soft, chestnut curls, and kind, brown eyes. He has dimples in his cheeks when he smiles, ever so gently, like Harry is a baby deer he’s afraid of spooking, and Harry blinks at him, surprised.
