The bright strobing lights of police cars, the chatter of Beverly, Price, and Zeller, the enclosed environment of agents and officers crowding the victims, and the flash of cameras to document the evidence. All that is annoying on a good day, but not the worst. Worst of all was the smell.

I'll be so honest, this entire piece came about because I thought it would be funny if they convinced Hannibal to buy them all pizza and my thoughts were also infested by the whole thing with dreams in Hannibal + Sorry We're Closed. All Will Graham has known since outbreak is how to be on his own, his mother having died on outbreak day, his father fighting for their home in Florida. It was too long ago they’d lost contact.
Everything had happened within days, he knew he’d be safe in his home, that his farm in Wolf Trap would be so far away and too remote for a hoard to target. All he’d had was his pack, and that was fine, - really it was.
And then, food started to run more and more scarce, infected became more and more daring. And eating veal, deer or other wildlife started to get risky as the virus evolved further. The transition to cannibalism hadn’t been as difficult as he thought, but what does make it difficult is during this year’s spring his first hunt is interrupted, better yet, completely fucking ruined.

As requested by LadyJadeRains! What would have happened if Will's encephalitis was a little worse, and the psychic driving had been a little more effective, such that Will genuinely believed that he had committed the Copycat Killings and also murdered Abigail Hobbs?
Will is having a very terrible time. He believes he is the Copycat. He believes he killed and ate his surrogate daughter.
Matthew Brown provides comfort inside the BSHCI, and Will feels as though he doesn't deserve the kindness, the support, the physical touch. Hannibal Lecter provides his own comfort, when he can, but he seems frustrated about the way the trial is progressing and Will's perception of himself. Both men want more from him and Will, lonely, vulnerable, desperate for connection, is reaching back.
However, neither of them are the sharing type, and both of them are perceptive enough to see what the other is doing. They will have to confront each other eventually, but when they do, will they be able to find an alternative means of resolving things? Who, truly, has the right to possess Will Graham?
And, more importantly, is Will going to agree?

A young Hannibal Lecter is enrolled in a penpal program, and finds himself matched with a young American he only knows as "Etudiant Quatre." As time passes it becomes clearer and clearer that Quatre is remarkable and Hannibal wants, more than anything, to have a friend. Of course, Hannibal's version of friendship is a lot more possessive than Quatre may be able to understand. It's okay, though. They're a world apart. What's the worst that could happen?
An epistolary character study (in large part, let's be real I'm not exclusively writing 30 years worth of letters here) of our good murder boys. They meet when they are very young (8/9 and 13/14), and the story covers chapter by chapter roughly six month to one year increments between 1986 and 2016 where they write to one another and their lives intertwine. They are snarky and pretentious and their friendship is the only real thing either of them has to cling to. One day, they will meet, but under what circumstances? Whose design brings them together at last, 20 or 25 years later? This is a VERY slow burn, but burn it shall.

Summary
Hannibal took so much from him, with such liberty and such tenderness, as if it had always belonged to him. Will tries to feel a familiar bitterness about it, but he finds himself excusing his monster. Any creature when starved for long enough will become ferocious in the presence of such a feast. A beast carved from loneliness, finding all encompassing empathy.
His devil bit down cruelly but then licked his wounds with reverence, Will knew that when Hannibal sank his claws into the soft flesh of his underbelly, he only did it to keep him closer. To prevent the abandonment he knew would be orchestrated from the beginning.
