Starscream was well aware of Clara shifting on his seat as she listened.
His fingers tightened on the brass.
“I gain everything,” he contradicted quietly.
“You just cut your life expectancy to practically nothing,” she hissed, then blinked with surprise as Starscream smiled.
“I just made sure the rest of my life is going to be filled with light.”

Five years after his life ended, forgotten and left to the mercies of the Decepticons in a prison camp, Hot Shot continues to exist in a living hell. A grey hell populated by the dead and the dying, their sparks still pulsing in their chambers, but their hopes extinguished.
Here, at the end of everything.
And it's here, after five long years, that he finds what he didn't expect. Something new. Something he thought he'd lost.
A spark, a flicker, just a fragile glimmer so easily crushed underfoot....
And he finds that maybe, just maybe, this isn't the end.
