      Thoughts on Swan Lake by Sarah

       

      Modern short story retelling of swan lake from the perspective of Odile. In 2nd person but I didn’t notice until the 3rd read through because it’s so good.

      You call your boss the twenty-sixth, and tell him that your father’s had some health issues, you’re going to need FMLA. He tells you not to worry about it, just make sure to let HR know.

       

      Outside the window, the swans are huddled together on the half-frozen pond in your backyard, their heads bent together like lovers. You can’t help admiring the elegant curve of those long, white necks, how lovely they are, set against the grey slate of the sky and the shadows of the skeletal trees. They’re trembling—you didn’t even know swans could get cold.

       

      You tell your boss you’ll keep him updated.

    Prompt from LadyMaegor: Could you do Beauty and The Beast / Swan Princess crossover story with Beast x Rothbart pairing if you have free space for this prompt ? AU where King William still doesn't want to kill Rothbart, but he also realizes that Rothbart is too dangerous to letting just walk free and be exiled. So he seeks help to Enchantress and she suggets imprisoning Rothbart magically inside The Beast's castle , so he won't be able to leave to castle's ground like Beast and enchanted servants. King William agrees, so Rothbart is placed under magical house arrest. Beast is not very happy having to share his castle with disgraced, evil sorcerer. But he slowly starts tolerate Rothbart and slowly over the years they start fall in love with each others.

    Belle still comes into the castle and takes her father's place Beast's prisoner, but now she's more friend to Beast who acts matchmaker to Beast after she realizes that he Rothbart are really in love, but more than bit denial their own feelings. And maybe Belle gets encouragement both Beast and Rothbart to find a way to have more freedom in her life.
