Gavin knows that Connor and Nines are like brothers to each other. He also knows that Connor doesn't like him one bit. When he and Nines came forward about their relationship, however, he didn't expect Connor's distain for him to run so deep as to try and sabotage it.

Gavin has a few very, very bad nights, and is worn down to the bone. Nines accidentally pushes him over the edge, and causes him to have a big breakdown at work. Nines hadn't expected it, feels incredibly bad about it and tries to reconcile and apologize. He does more than that though, he helps settle Gavin and calm his ever frayed mind.

RK900 sat beside Gavin Reed's hospital bed, LED silently glowing yellow as he stared at the monitor displaying his partner's vital signs. Rather than watch his chest weakly rise and fall, he watched the numbers dance on the vital signs monitor. Heart rate. Blood pressure. Oxygen saturation. Data. He could rely on data.
Gavin's face was far too peaceful like this, deathlike under the effects of the drugs meant to keep him asleep so his body would start to heal after the surgery. He had none of his usual fire like this, none of his hyperactive energy; he was just...still.
How had he miscalculated this outcome? What data did he miss?
He reconstructed the sequence of events again.

Whatever he’d do with the android… he’d figure that out later. For now, his first objective was that shower, hoping it would ease the throbbing of his ribs and face and shoulders.

'Now, I believe we should be able to come to some sort of compromise, don't you, Detective?'
'Just what the hell do you want from me?' Hesitant, unsure – only, the flicker of his eye lashes as his eyes widen, the quick flash of his tongue as he licks across his lips, the dampness that lingers, that Nines itches to touch.
'Come to me whenever you desire sexual release,' he says, and the thirium in his veins pumps harder, hotter, faster, at the thought. 'I'll be able to keep track of your vitals in what basically amounts to real time, I'll always know when to stop before enough becomes too much.'
There's a flicker of expression on Gavin's face, too many different emotions, all of them struggling for dominance. It's acceptance, however, that he settles on, and Nines's breath quickens. Gavin shrugs, casual as anything, and nods his head.
'Like, right now?' he asks, and Nines's thirium pump falters, no, momentarily stops in his chest. He ignores the surging warnings, and takes Gavin by the shoulder. And Gavin says, like it's nothing at all: 'Sure, I mean, whatever.'
OR, Nines makes Gavin and offer, and even before they're in they're both already *in*.
