Summary
Tim still found his shift to be near-foreign, even after Jason rejoined the family. Said family seemed to make it their mission to change that, with Jason at the helm, leading the effort. Things get a bit messy (though not overly so - Tim didn't even eat the mouse!) but they seem to be managing. Three times being a fox wasn't the worst thing in the world -
Something twisted in his gut, not quite painful, but forceful, and Tim gasped out. A shift rippled through him, impossible to fight, and he was a fox before he knew it, and he - Tim tried to shift back, to be human and not quite so defenseless, but something blocked him. It wasn’t his fear.

Bruce types, his eyes burning. He knows that he should have given up on his work and gone to bed hours ago. Especially with Tim sitting in the corner, working on cold cases. He hasn’t even stopped to make Tim go home like he normally would, but he just wants to be done with it so badly. At least done with enough that he won’t have to get up quite so early later this morning. He glances at the clock in the corner of the screen.
Shit, it’s three a.m. already.
“Tim, you should go home.”
Tim hums without even looking up. Bruce pinches his nose, forcing himself not to roll his eyes at the kid across the room from him who is far too similar to Bruce for his own good.

Summary
Everything had changed, and Tim couldn’t tell if it was for better or for worse. He’d gotten sharper, more efficient in his fighting and workflow, but he’d had to sacrifice everything for a man he wasn’t sure would still love him when he got back.
He knew he hadn’t been wanted at first, but the family had grown to love him, of that he was sure–Tim had never felt so warm with Bruce, Dick and Alfred than he had with his parents. They weren’t the touchy-feely type, and there was little evidence to prove they even liked him–but it was different with Batman. He had protected Tim, taken him in, made him feel safe.
And here he was, avoiding all of them.

They're even fairly good at helping out. Though, when Robin gets hit with a modified version of Poison Ivy's pollen, their solution is to call his 'older brother' who apparently they think is Red Hood himself.

A quiet knock on the door – so soft, he almost thinks it had been part of a dream – pulls Jason awake. Groaning, he checks the time on his phone. Two in the morning. Another knock, barely louder than the first. He stares at the ceiling for a long moment. What the fuck could someone want at two fucking a.m.? He almost pulls the blanket over his head, ready to ignore it. Then they knock a third time. Faster. Desperate?
Cursing under his breath, Jason rolls out of bed and shuffles toward the door, pausing to grab a handgun and tucking it into his waistband, just in case. Opens the door as far as the chain will allow.
He finds Tim slumped against the door frame. He starts when the door opens, like he hadn’t expected it would. When he looks up, his eyes are hollow, face pale. His lip is split and swollen, and he’s got the makings of a black eye blooming over his right cheekbone. “Jason…” he croaks.

If at six years old, Tim chose to watch that scary movie with the alien ripping open the guy’s stomach that Jack told him he was too young for, then he could change his own sheets later that night when he wet the bed from nightmares. If at eight, Tim broke a window playing with his new slingshot too close to the house, then he could pick up all the shattered pieces of glass himself and pay to replace it from his birthday savings. If at twelve, he was irresponsible enough to forget to request more funds on his school lunch account before his parents traveled to the remote mountains of Nepal, then he could go hungry for a few days until they returned to cell service range.
His parents rarely ever punished him, per se, but they’ve always been big believers in letting him feel the full weight of his natural consequences.
Tim knows better than to expect any help.

Tim stares at him, offended on principle. “You can’t just—”
“Watch me.” Jason flicks ash off the edge of the fire escape and lets it spiral down toward the alley. “Where’d you steal these from?”
“I didn’t.”
“You didn’t,” he repeats.
Tim shrugs, casual in a way that feels almost rehearsed. “I bought them.”
Jason stares.
Just— stares.
“Who the fuck,” he says slowly, “is selling kids tobacco.”
“I’m not a kid—”
“Shut up, yes you are.”

The pain is no longer sharp—just deep and consuming. It throbs with his heartbeat. Every pulse reminds him he’s still here.
Still breathing.
Still inconveniently alive.
Tim considers staying right where he is up against the tree.
The bleeding will do the hard part—eventually. Hypothermia would help. He’s already soaked from the river anyway and the night air is cold enough to bite. He could close his eyes—rest maybe—stop fighting for once.
The city lights blur and flicker in the distance.
No one would know exactly where he is. Maybe not for another few hours or so. They’d search for a while, then when they find Tim maybe he won’t be here anymore.
His good hand rests limp over his stomach.
I’m so tired...
He thinks bleakly the kind of tiredness that settles into your bones and not just your muscles.Tim’s eyes flutter shut against the night. Keeping them open requires too much effort.
His breathing slows, the sound of the water trickling by keeps him semi present, and for a moment—suspended between pain and sleep—Timothy Drake genuinely hopes he doesn’t wake up.
