Summary
Unfortunately, there is one problem that Gojo has yet to overcome, and he probably never will: being a sorcerer means taking hits. It means getting thrown through walls or dragged along concrete or getting half-eaten before your mission partner finds you. It means watching curses you've come to collect be eaten by random humans, it means having your best friend brought up for execution, it means sitting under bridges with blood streaming down your face.
Gojo doesn't want any of that for Megumi. He's always warned him that the end is always nigh and to never let his guard down, but he doesn't want to find Megumi in a heap by the road, surrounded by unconscious civilians he'd managed to drag out of the building, cuts covering his eyes and bruises blossoming to signal broken ribs. He doesn't want to check for a pulse and only find a weak one, he doesn't want to check for breathing and not hear any.
When he does, it's like his world has ended.

Summary
Megumi realized he had begun to tremble, having finally broken out of his frozen state. He brought his shaky arms up and attempted to form the hand signal to summon his divine dogs. The nine-year-old was desperate for protection, but he couldn’t find the strength to summon them. His heart was beating too fast, his breaths were too shallow, there was an incessant ringing in his ears and his chest felt as if it was being crushed from fear.
Run.
Megumi’s mind screamed at him to get as far away as possible, but his legs felt like jelly. He had never felt this sort of fear in his life.
Run and find Gojo.
Or: Megumi is being stalked by something but refuses to tell Gojo about it until it's too late.

Summary
If anyone were to ask Megumi what his relationship with Gojo was he'd have a quick and easy answer for that.
Gojo was his teacher. Simple as that.
Or at least it should have been as easy as that.
There was no doubt in anyone's mind that Gojo was Megumi's teacher. After all, he was the designated teacher for the first years at Jujutsu Tech and Megumi, alongside his classmates Itadori and Kugisaki just so happened to be those first years.
If it were as simple as that, though, Megumi wouldn't be questioning his relationship with his teacher.
Was Gojo simply his teacher?

It was becoming clear Megumi had earned the role of 'punching bag' when the three first years are sent out on a mission. But frankly, he was tired of always having to be cared for at the end. So when he sustains what he suspects is a minor injury, he decides to keep it to himself. He doesn't need to bother everyone, again. He couldn't continue to drag everyone down simply because he messed up, again.
So he keeps his mouth shut.

Summary
Yuji went still, watching as if in a trance. The flickering light illuminated Fushiguro’s pale hands as he crouched between the stone and the pit, casting a shadow on the wall behind him.
"When I first started seeing curses, I was terrified to fall asleep. Tsumiki made me play this dumb little game with her before going to bed." With a few flicks of his fingers, the animal on the wall began hopping up and down as Fushiguro worked his magic.
"It helped back then. Figured it could work for you, too."
Or, Yuji has trouble sleeping while on a mission, and Megumi tries his best to comfort him. Everything crumbles, as it turns out the nightmares are the least of their problems.
