Summary
Cody watches the scene in horror. His vod’ika’s hand holding the pistol is trembling. He watches Rex’s internal battle, not knowing which side is going to win. What brought you to this point, Rex?
“I have to do this,” Rex says aloud, the internal battle becoming external.
“You can't do it, can you?” Krell continues to mock. “Eventually, you'll have to do-,” a weapon discharges, Krell slumps, “-the right thing”.
Rex whirls around, surprised. The rest of the men in the room look similarly confused, a shiny looking down at the blaster he was in the middle of removing from Fives' holster, before chaos erupts. Something dinks off of a metal surface somewhere in the room and the feed starts to cloud up. Blaster fire lights up the smoke filling the room, but the smoke can't hide the sight of a Commando droid stalking past the camera. Cody can hear coughing and several names being shouted. The feed then fizzles out, indicative of an EMP being used.
Cody, his General, and his vode stand there in stunned silence.

Summary
“When was the last time you ate?” Kix asks suspiciously. Rex blinks slowly, trying to ignore the stars that dance over his eyes as he waits for the question to register in his brain. He can’t remember the last time he slept, much less ate, and it’s hard to think of anything but the way his head is throbbing and pounding underneath his skull.
“This morning,” Rex hopes that his voice has the right amount of casual and authoritative; maybe then Kix will leave him alone and use his time to torment the Shinies or whatever he does when he’s not pestering Rex to voluntarily admit to something that will most definitely land him in the MedBay and prevent him from making any progress in the mountain of flimsiwork currently burying his desk.
Unfortunately, Kix does not look convinced. “Uh huh. And just to be sure, what day is it?”
“Primeday?”
“Captain.” The way Kix manages to fit a whole range of disappointment into that one word is nothing short of artistic.
Or, after a long and disastrous campaign out in the field, Rex returns to find his desk entirely hidden under stacks and stacks of data pads. With both Anakin and Ahsoka recovering in the MedBay, it falls on Rex to keep the entire 501st going.

Summary
When Kirk's first landing party assignment turns anything but routine, he find himself injured and alone .. and in the middle of a planet's civil war. With Enterprise out of reach, it's up to Spock to keep Kirk alive. As help arrives, Kirk is left needing to solve a mystery and to find the last of his men now left behind.
Spock looked down at Kirk, whose face was an unhealthy white-gray, lips bloodless and slightly parted with faint, rapid breaths. It unsettled Spock to see the normally animated features become lax as the life-force within him waned. McCoy was right; they were running out of time. He estimated Kirk had little more than an hour or two before blood loss and shock would be irreversible.
“For Christ’s sake, Spock, make a decision,” McCoy commanded. “Jim’s dying.”

“We searched the area where the Captain was injured and found no signs of other life. The unknown assailant is either very clever at remaining hidden, or has already left the planet," Spock said. "Were there any other marks on the Captain’s body that would indicate a struggle?”
“No," McCoy said.
“You are certain? The Captain is not given to easy surrender.”

Kirk managed to lift his hand. His fingers glanced off soft fabric. Within moments, Bones face appeared in his line of sight. His friend seemed to sense what he wanted to know.
“We’re transporting you onto a shuttle to the USS Messenger.”
He shook his head. He was the captain.
“You can’t stay on Enterprise, kid. I’ve got to get you to Earth.”
No. Fuck you. He wasn’t going back to Earth. There was nothing for him on Earth. There never had been. Nothing good happened on Earth. He wanted to stay.

Summary
This is a bit AU but maintains elements of Vic's character and Clay's attitude towards him. Deviates from the show's sequence of events, and paints Vic without any redeeming qualities.
A multi-chapter emotional and physical whump-fest coming up. I tried to write a one chapter story, but my evil muse latched on to a concept, and it's snowballing into several chapters.
