Legundo held him fast although he writhed, looking down through those dark lenses. Owen could not see his own reflection in them— vampires did not have reflections. But he saw the red moon, and the black forest, and it looked like eyes.
"I find you very fascinating Owen. As I said, I've traveled very far and seen many things, but you're a bit of an oddity. Goldsmith, now there's a dime a dozen. If I had an obol for every noble vampire with a penchant for massacre, why, I'd be a very rich man."
Legundo sounded conversational. The bastard was as strong as a granite cliff side— Owen yanked as hard as he could and although Legundo's mouth pursed with effort, there was no breaking loose. Owen was smaller, and weak from hunger besides.
"I had hoped to study your sire, Louis," and Owen had to acknowledge the fear now, ice cold in his stomach where the hunger nested with it. "But it seems he is no longer with us. You have my condolences, of course—"
"Shut your fucking mouth," Owen snarled, and then screamed in fury when Legundo sighed, and started pressing Owen down to the ground.

Summary
He should be better than this. Carla knows when it’s coming, but there’s still nothing he can do to stop it. Determination and dignity can’t overcome the necessities of vampire biology, no matter how hard he tries.
It starts with exhaustion, as it always does. Carla finds himself more tired than usual; limbs weighed down, muscles aching, body slowed. It’s harder to fight his natural nocturnal urges and make himself get up in the morning. Staying in his safe, comfortable nest of blankets and soft things sounds like the best idea possible, but it’s not an option. He has to be presentable. He has to appear by your side, obedient, as he always does.
By that point, he knows what’s coming. With no more of a sign than the tiredness, than the urge to sleep, it’s all too apparent what the problem is. Heat. Now that he’s better fed and had time to rest, his body has gone right back to the innate cycle that he never ceases to despise.

Summary
There was a tale Legundo had read once, of a woman whose lover was taken away by dark fey creatures, to a palace under a hill. To get him back from the evil Queen of Air and Darkness, she had to hold him tight and not let him go, although he turned into all manner of things;
A snake, sharp fanged and venomous. A bear, so large she could barely keep her slim arms around him. A bird whose wings she had to crush in her hands. A snowflake, a breeze, a memory— until finally he became a flame that burned her so horribly that her tears eventually put the flames out, and her lover was there again, naked and trembling and weeping himself.
"Well Doctor, what's it going to be?" Scott asked, his face near healed now, his right eye visible beneath the fracture of his brow. The white was bruised with burst blood vessels, giving Scott a dangerous, uneven look as he stared at Legundo, legs crossed neatly, blood mopped away.
"… I'll try," Legundo nodded slowly, heart pounding. "I'll try to help Owen."

Something huge now stood directly in front of him, blocking any hope of escape.
He cast his gaze up, and up, and up.
Before him was easily the largest spider he had ever seen, each of its eight legs twice the length of his body and just as thick. Its abdomen was swollen and heavy, resting lightly on the cave floor—no doubt filled with eggs, just like the spiders that covered the walls.
And, where the thorax and head of the spider would normally be, was what appeared to be the top half of a human– though there were some features that were– off. Its eyes were closed, giant fangs bulging and visible even through the skin around his mouth. It had a mop of soft-looking blond hair, and the smooth, tanned skin of its bare chest contrasted prettily against the dark blue and gold of the rest of its body.
By all accounts, it was a very handsome-looking spider.

Static blinded him, filling his audial and visual sensors. He gasped, pushing through the pain coursing through him to sit up, shaking his head to try and dismiss the static and error messages peeking through it. What was that voice? Puppy - was that him? Where was he?
The static in his sensors resolved itself to show him the ruined cityscape filled with snow and ash around him. Wind howled past his audials. Looking down at himself, he was also covered in it; he must have been sitting here a while.
