He has never argued with a punishment, not since he was a toddler, if then. Surely she’ll listen, surely she’ll see this is too harsh, that he wouldn’t be disrespecting her like this if he was simply sulking over not getting his way. He needs that food, needs to be able to eat enough if he wants to be Robin.
He’s been hungry before, but back then, it never mattered if he was a little weak or dizzy. It never risked his life or the life of his partner when he was a kid.
She turns, sighing softly and pursing her lips. She reaches out to pat his cheek, and for a moment his heart soars hopefully, and he barely restrains himself from leaning into the rare bit of contact and soaking up his mother’s touch. “Oh, Timothy,” she tuts. “This is for the best. And honestly, I think it’s wise for you to cut down a bit on the snacks. I’d hate to have to listen to anyone tittering at the next gala that you’re getting chubby.”
And without another backwards glance, she turns and heads upstairs, leaving Tim alone and frozen at the bottom of the steps.

Thankfully, Drake makes quick work of his tie, and Damian can breathe again. Then his vest is off, and his dress shirt, and his skin is free of the horrible, awful scratchiness he'd endured all night. He stills feels dirty, like theres a coat of grime on his skin, but he knows in his soul that showering would make it worse. Feeling the water against his skin, his hands pruning, his feet getting wet, the thought makes him shudder.
His tears have dried, and the consistent flapping has stopped, but he can feel himself rocking back and forth, and can't find it in himself to stop.

It's all going smoothly right up until Stede throws his life into utter chaos. Again. In the aftermath of a storm and a captain gone overboard, Izzy has to contend with the consequences of a lifetime’s worth of secrets being suddenly brought to light.
Hopefully he can do that before things go too disastrously off the rails.

From where he sits, turned ever so slightly to the side, it’s very visible to Lucius’s curious eyes. Sure, the missing leg and haunted expression to match the rest of the Leather Crew from Ed's Kraken Era are interesting enough-if disturbing-but Lucius knows about those things.
He thinks.
Admittedly, nobody's really gotten Jim, Archie (who Lucius is a little intimidated by), Fang, Frenchie, or Izzy to talk about their time under Blackbeard's sole employment, but Lucius thinks he can imagine. Ivan is gone, to where nobody will tell him. When he’d asked, Fang had burst into tears."
Listen, I know this sounds super dramatic, but in truth it's pretty damn soft. I wrote it for my brain to take a break from being stressed, so hopefully it'll do that for yours, too.

“That’s really not the ringing endorsement you think it is.” Izzy huffed softly earning him another squeeze.The one where Izzy meets some of Lucius’s friends for the first time, gets high, gets drunk, and realizes that maybe life isn’t quite so shitty when you have people that actually give a fuck about you. Not necessarily in that order.

It gets easier and easier to stop living in his life. Well, until he finds himself in pieces on Stede Bonnet's floor.
That makes things a bit more difficult.
