When Link’s Twilight Shard is stolen from him and he’s once again stuck as a wolf, he doesn’t mean to accidentally fall through the strange triangular portal that appears in front of him. When he does, he’s transported into a strange Hyrule that he’s never seen before, and he meets eight strangers who claim to share the same name as him. The only problem: he’s not actually a wolf, and he has no way of letting the others know.

Summary
The Hero's Spirit? ...it requires... a vessel: whether born, fabricated, or some unholy mixture of both, as long as its purposes are fulfilled.
The Hero's Spirit, present in Link after Link, endows upon its vessels the unusual power to animate inanimate materials as if part of the body itself. Five heroes in particular have done so more extensively and more consciously than others, due to a variety of circumstances and origins. Five heroes in particular have been targeted.
New Linksmeet-style AU, featuring 6 Links brought together and fighting to save the Hero's Spirit, and thus countless Hyrules. The intention is to write an introduction and then add in oneshots and illustrations every so often in an episodic way.

This is fine, everything is fine.
Sure, Legend’s back in the Dark World, site of some minor boyhood (and bunnyhood) trauma, but he’s got a Moon Pearl, and so does Four, and Sky has the Master Sword. That’s three of them who don’t have to deal with the Dark World transformation curse!
And okay, maybe he’ll have to explain all this a little bit, but he can just leave out that part about the shadows with Four’s face and sword who almost murdered him as an 11 year old. It’s not like it’ll come up.
The odds of said 11 year old being anywhere around are probably super low too, right?

“A few weeks,” Warriors provides helpfully.
“A few weeks,” Sky echoes. “Despite also being due a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, we're all very busy heroes and don't stumble across mailboxes very often. So I couldn't submit it on time. A shame.”
“Clearly,” Twilight says, and everyone solemnly echoes the sentiment.
Being a hero means that sometimes, your homework gets burnt to a crisp. Sky learns this the hard way.

“Don’t torture yourself, Twilight,” Warriors says before he could spit out any of it, his fury fading as he sees Warriors’s hand shake from where it hovers over Wild’s now closed eyes. “It’s hard enough as it is.”
Twilight swallows thickly and refuses to shift his gaze to where Warriors’s own does, just a little below Wild’s stomach. Instead, he pulls his protege closer and ignores the way Wild’s head lolls lifelessly on the crook of his arm.
((Or the one where a hunt goes wrong, it gets worse, the ends in the worst way possible, and all that Twilight has left is the hope that he had misunderstood the meaning of his protege's words when he had said his champion friends had taken their gifts with them once they said goodbye for good.))

Summary
Once, Hyrule was the only person he knew named Link. He was the only person who had held the triforce, the only person who had to run from the forces of evil, to defeat an enemy too great when he was too young, too small, too alone. Once, he cast a desperate bit of arcane magic and thrust himself and eight strangers on a quest.
Now, Legend smiles more, and Twilight's shadows are a little lighter. Now Wind laughs as loud as a storm with Sky's smile as soft as the following calm.
Someday soon, Wild will stand in a land of darkness, fighting an enemy all too easy to laugh off, though the darkness doesn't laugh. The shadows themselves will plot and scheme. Soon Wars' own darkness with reach out for him. It isn't long until Four is haunted by his own shadow. Maybe, if they had enough warning there would be something that could be done.
The problem with Time is that he knows the cost of meddling. Then, now, and then again, he was, is, and will be unable to warn them all properly. That's the issue with time travel. For those outside of the stream, the course of it can't be seen, can't be planned for. By the time you realize it's happened, it's already too late.

Twilight holds the kid’s hands, sees the way his ring finger turns in just like Twilight’s, how his pinky is crooked, how the fine bones jump under his skin like piano strings, and presses those precious knuckles against his mouth. Not to kiss, just to cherish close like a breakable, vulnerable thing. Wild doesn’t know delicate. He doesn't know a gentle hold or a touch that is not a sword’s bite or a kick in the ribs. These dear hands are sacrosanct.

It is a bitter jealousy, whether they like it or not. When one of them gets to be Link and the rest are relegated to a moniker, a mere epithet. It’s different when it is equal, when they are all on the same level. If no one is Link then they all are, and they know this. But when it is one of them, just one of them, that gets to lay claim to their name, there is an impulsive curl of the lip. There is an instinctual possessiveness. There is a selfish displeasure that what is theirs instead becomes one of theirs in the universal squabble of brotherhood.
