Based on the season 7 episode of TNG “Attached" but what if it was Kirk and Spock instead of Bev and Picard? There is some direct dialogue from that episode.
Would encourage you to read “What Took You So Long, Mr. Spock?” first because you will get hella spoiled for that one here if you don’t.

The pain had been dormant since Merlin’s recovery. He couldn’t see the scar on his back, but Gaius assured him that it remained, and likely would remain for the rest of Merlin’s life.
The ugly scar on his back was the only proof that he had survived a serket’s sting.
Then Merlin awoke in the middle of a winter night with heat radiating from his back. He tried to reach behind him to feel the hot area, but the movement of his arm sent a bolt of pain through him. His entire body stiffened.
