Several quiet beats pass between them. Far away, the ruckus of the rest of the League echoes into the night. Everyone always goes buck wild after these meetings, all riled up.
Dabi holds his hand out. In the shadows it’s hard to see his face, even with Hawks’ eyesight.
“Light?” He offers again, flicking his fingers together. A tiny blue flame pops into existence in his palm and dances against the dark. It’s…sort of beautiful. Like a miniature star.
“…Yeah.” Hawks nods minutely and bridges the gap, stepping closer. He dips the cigarette into the small fire and lifts his hand to shield it from the wind.
Dabi shakes his head. “It won’t go out on its own. Don’t insult me, Birdie.”
Hm. Hawks isn’t sure if it’s the funny nickname or the first breath of nicotine, but he gets a head rush.
“Thanks.” He says, blowing out a cloud of smoke. Warmer already.

Summary
Wilbur Soot's life sucks. He's a broke indie artist, has no friends, and he's a Zero. In a world full of people with powers, he's literally a joke. His life hits an all-time low when he accidentally grabs a bag with a disc called Mellohi in it instead of his crappy sheet music. Now there's this masked guy interrogating him for information about the Empire when Wilbur hasn't heard of the Angel of Death or the Blood God in his life (and trust him, he would remember if he did). Worse, he thinks that Wilbur's real name is Tommy. Who in the hell is Tommy?
(Somewhere else, Phil and Technoblade plan a rescue mission against the most dangerous rival gang in the world. Dream's a dangerous man, but they would do anything for Family.)
(Meanwhile, Tommy reads crappy sheet music instead of delivering a Very Important Disc to his best friend.)
Or: Wilbur is powerless in a world full of powerful people, and he just has happened to attract the attention of the strongest around.

The Immortal Emperor, the Angel of Death, Philza rules the largest domain in the entire Overworld, reigning as the emperor since the founding of the ancient Antarctic Empire. It has been his lifelong duty to serve his people who have been wronged and ‘modified’ through the inhumane means of the fallen Originate Esempi.
He has salvaged many of the Originate’s victims across the ages, and among those are his two children, the Antarctic Princes Technoblade and Wilbur.
And he will salvage many more.
Enter Tommy, once a hybrid test subject of the Originate, now a hybrid child running free and into the arms of mentioned Antarctic Princes.
All the while a plot made across the centuries unfold.

Tommy awoke to a hand on his shoulder and a whisper hissed into his ear. “Wake up.”
The tone of voice shattered Tommy’s sleepy haze. His eyes snapped open to see Wilbur’s shadowed form standing over his bed. As Tommy’s eyes adjusted to the dark he realized Wilbur’s gaze was locked on their bedroom door and the sliver of golden candle light leaking out beneath it.
Tommy wondered why someone had lit a candle. Jenny said they were dangerous to have on at night, so they were only used during emergencies. But the house was so quiet, Tommy didn’t think there was an emergency.
“Wil, what—?” Wilbur’s hand clamped over his mouth.
Wilbur glanced at Tommy, wide-eyed, and gave a jerky shake of his head before his attention snapped back to the door.

“Hey kid, sorry I didn't see you there. How can I help you?”
The kid shoots up and he looks scared out of his mind for a second before scowling. “I’m not a fuckin’ kid,” he snaps. Wilbur laughs softly, the kids eyes are blue, they remind him of Phil.
“Right, how can I help you?”
The kids’ bristling demeanor dies down instantly and he looks suddenly much more nervous. The kids posture is shit, Wilbur notices, his shoulders are up and slouched over his chest almost protectively. He starts fidgeting with sleeves of his shirt and he quickly but quietly pulls out a five dollar bill, he slides it across the bar to Wilbur.
“Could I have a- could I get a-“ He pauses, shakes his head and looks up.
“Hamburger and sweet potato fries,” He says it with a confident voice but scared eyes and body language.or phil, techno, and wilbur own a diner and tommy becomes a regular customer. one found family arc later and they adopt him

Techno goes completely still for a moment, his red eyes focused on the sturdy black shell. “You’ve brought… an egg.”
“Yep.” Phil pops the ‘p.’
Techno lets out a long sigh. “Not to make an omelet, I presume.”
“Nope.”
Another sigh, and then the deep rumble of Techno’s voice continues. “You do realize that eggs hatch, right?”
“Uh uh,” he responds, nodding.
Techno gives him a hard look “And you do realize that this one is a gigantic egg that was most likely laid by a dragon?”
“It was,” Phil says, “I killed it.”
Techno takes his head in his hands. “Oh Gods, Phil. This thing is going to hatch, and then what are we going to do with it?”
Phil gives him a brave smile. “This is a new adventure, old friend.”
The new adventure, it turns out, is parenting.OR: A fic in which Phil is a retired dragon slayer and Wilbur his dragon son.

He stayed in Phil's room for weeks, Wilbur being left on his own for the entire time. Once he got to see his twin again, he was different- a pair of pig ears, pink eyes, and hooves. The sudden change didn't bother Wilbur, but something changed in his twin.

Techno blinks. “What?”

"In one moment, Tommy is being beaten against an obsidian wall."In the next, he's waking up in his childhood bedroom. There's magic on his tongue, he's in his childhood home, and his family is still dysfunctional but they are at least together. He can prevent their destruction if he can just get past his own grown fears of them. He can do this by himself, it's what is best for them all. He can keep them from breaking apart, keep Wilbur and Tubbo from all the pain they've experienced. Tommy can do this for them, even if he's a little bit cracked now. If they get suspicious, well, what was that play Wilbur mentioned once? Hamlet? Tommy can just do what that guy did.
(Tommy time travels into the past and begins to disguise his traumatic responses as the same kind of Chat Madness his older brother Techno is known for. But madness begets madness, and how far can Tommy go with a lie that begins to bleed at the edges?)

Summary
Philza always wanted kids.
It was something he thought of fondly, even as a child. He couldn't explain it, but the thought of having someone so precious to him made life seem so much brighter. It didn't matter if he had a significant other or not, although it would be nice, he would cherish them until his dying day.
He did get his wish in the end, but, fate had a funny way of delivering it to him.
