The girl with the knit bear hat doesn’t seem to notice; not Alice, not the air, not anything at all. Her back is turned and her shoulders slightly hunched, the ends of her choppy brown hair just about brushing the collar of her coat. She doesn’t seem to be moving. Her hands are folded nice and neat in her lap, two red mittens that are about as strange in context as the rest of her outfit, which can’t be anything less than sweltering in the heat of what seems to be one very, very long moment.

very good prose, kinda hard to understand but it's literally serial experiments lain and i wouldn't have it any other way.
