Dutch van der Linde spoke fire and brimstone gospel, and didn’t respect a word of it. Christmas was on the way far too fast, and the feud between him and Colm O’Driscoll’s church came to an all time high around this time of year.
Arthur Morgan just had to hope they survived the holidays and had an alright Christmas. With Dutch pledging to upstage the blasphemous bastard, and a violent mystery unfolding behind the scenes, it weren’t looking too good.

Summary
I’m not sure if there’s a point to this story, but I’m going to tell it again. It took one frozen May in the Grizzlies West and a trail of bread crumbs laid for a nobler man.
When Dutch van der Linde resumes his habit of picking up waifs, Micah realizes he’s become entangled in a violent tragicomedy with no end nor reward, and he begins to doubt he can stick it out for the long con.

In other words, a loose-ish retelling of the game’s events if a fresh batch of kids and the wonderful Tilly Jackson put Micah on a redemption arc of his own. Set over a longer time span in a bigger country. Really not a fix-it, in some ways a make-it-worse.

So when the gang arrived at their snowy little refuge in Colter with only the barest of supplies, Javier wasn't too worried. He had survived worse, they had survived worse, and they would again before all was said and done."
In which Javier does what he must to care for his family, miscalculations are made, and his family cares for him in return.

When Arthur gets food poisoning, his symptoms choose the worst time to kick in: whilst on a robbery with Micah. As Arthur’s body betrays him, humiliating him in front of his lover, Micah knows he needs to help, but he has no clue how to comfort a sick person. But this is Arthur, the man who has done so much for him, so Micah needs to try. So, Arthur finds himself in the care of a man who doesn’t know what he’s doing, but he appreciates Micah’s support nevertheless.

There are good decisions and then there are bad decisions. John made some bad ones under the claims that it would be "tomorrow John's" problem to deal with. Now that tomorrow has come, he regrets substantially the amount of alcohol he had the night before and ain't looking forward to the "I told you so" looks from Arthur. Mercy being that they don't come?

“You’s gonna be fine, John,” Arthur tells him, voice pitched low and quiet where it doesn’t drive deeper the spikes of the hangover in his head.
John groans at the sentiment regardless, turning his face back into the mattress. “Don’t feel fine,” he whines, knowing it sure is a whine by the pathetic lilt of it. “Shootin’ me’d be doing me a kindness right now.”
The cold touch of the mug lifts as Arthur sits down on the bed next to him, a sigh let out to vent whatever chiding frustration he wants to bring up about warning him off drinking that much. “C’mon,” is what he says instead and he’s carefully brushing John’s hair back from his face, carding his fingers through it and coaxing him to turn his head towards him. “Got you some water, need you to drink it.”
