Spock has always struggled to feel like he really belongs anywhere; too Human for Vulcans, too Vulcan for Humans. It doesn’t help that there’s a certain… aspect of his that makes fitting in even harder. Trying to ignore that part of him backfires spectacularly when a party - meant to celebrate the new crew’s first few successful missions - induces a reaction he hoped never to have in front of anyone. A reaction that Humans call a 'meltdown'.
A thing for 2022’s Autism Acceptance Month, featuring a much more blatantly neurodivergent Spock. If it wasn’t blatant enough already. Also featuring an author projecting herself onto her favourite character as much as possible.

Data is on a small mission to a planet-wide marketplace, when he finds a hungry and frightened ball of fluff. Judging by its behaviour and current physical state, it's a stray who has been cruelly abandoned. For reasons unknown (read: he is in fact capable of loving), Data ends up getting the cat attached to him. And he’s definitely not leaving it behind.
OR, an origin story for Spot the Cat. Which we all definitely needed.
