“Can you fix me?”
“I can’t fix you. Only you can fix you.”
“But what if I don’t know how?” Harry knew that he sounded pathetic and sad. But he couldn’t keep the pain out of his voice anymore.
“Then you keep trying, every day, until you figure it out.”
“All by myself?”
“No.” Kim adjusted his glasses. “Not by yourself.”
The two of them met each other’s gaze. Harry took a step forward and pulled Kim into a hug. Kim’s body was rigid at first, but then he relaxed and hugged Harry back. He moved his head to rest on Harry’s shoulder.
They stood for a moment, just breathing. Harry realized that it was the first time that they had ever hugged. Kim felt so small in his arms. He was the most intimidating person that Harry knew, every pore on his body oozing authority. But right now he seemed so vulnerable. His body was warm. His heart was beating, and the blood was flowing through his veins. He was real, and he was here, and there was something so amazing about that.
And a thought dawned upon Harry, a terrible realization.

You’ve been here before. The new you, the one that smokes like a chimney but doesn’t drink or shoot up, has been here before; 2 or maybe 3 months prior, riddled with insomnia, performing the usual ritual of walking the streets until something made sense or pulled you in. You’d stood in the early morning haze and felt something unknown and external tug at the centre of you, like an unpleasant hook through the bellybutton.
Standing here now, deeper inside the carcass of this long abandoned warehouse, swarmed at the edges by RCM patrolmen, the pull comes again, unusual and unsettling. You don’t have enough words to speak it through with your partner yet, and you hadn’t wanted to think about it before either; for once the desire to explore had been unceremoniously extinguished.
You weren’t so lucky this time.

Summary

Harry and Kim must grapple with the ups and downs of their newly wrought partnership, the edges of their own pain blurring against that of the city. Tensions build, and the constant pressure of occupation threatens to crush the embers of resistance within Revachol.
Written in alternating POV's, with Harry's chapters being in the style of the gameplay.

Summary
Navigating their lives after Martinaise proves complicated for Harry and Kim as they attempt to balance work and personal life, but things get even more complicated when they have to confront a series of cases that bring more questions than answers, like 'is it normal to care about your partner this much?' and 'so what if I love you, what does that matter?' and 'can all of these cases really be connected?'
A slow(fast?) burn casefic with low stakes(except for minor peril) and minimal angst(except for one chapter). If I hadn't gotten burned out it probably would have been about 14 chapters? the last 5 plus epilogue are summarized in chapter 9 so keep that in mind.

Tilting his head to the side, Childe presses his face into the juncture between the hunter's jaw and his neck, savoring that earthy scent of sage and leather, and he presses his lips to his skin.
There is a flinch, a hand flying to grip the back of the vampire's shirt, and it only tightens when Childe presses a soft kiss to his jugular vein. The hunter looks away, a fine dusting of pink coating his cheeks."You're cute."
The hunter scoffs. "You're an idiot."
